Best Target scope for $600

QUOTE=Farmboy;9442923]Meopta Artemis 2000 3-12x50 $630
MEOPTA uses german schott glass, same as S&b.Some say the best glass.
Meopta makes the glass and some of the parts for the ziess conquest line.
They also make the glass and parts for IOR VALDADA.
They make SFP and FFP scopes,
They are put together in new york.

Mine is a ZD TACTIC 3-12x50 FFP illuminated target turrets.
Clearer than my leupold, and the same as my old ziess and ior.
Reviews say clearer than NF and extremely rugged and repeatable.

Do some research on meopta, you will be suprised at how much scope you can buy for $600.
I have seen some for sale on either this site or alberta outdoorsman.

Every option should be looked at when spending that much money.

Why would you say this??
Most of my big game rifles wear Fixed 6x optics, [6x42 Leupys] and I have shot a lot of deer with nary a problem.

Maybe a bit too much power if your shots are always under 40 meters, but otherwise, just fine.

Regards, Dave.

I guess your right, terrible might be too harsh of a word. I had a bad experience last season with a shooter being about 20 yards away. He darted in front of me with about 15 yards of clearing before disappearing into thick cover once again. I wasn't ready and had my scope set at 6 power. Probably doable shot with 6 x from someone a little more skilled than I. Needless to say it left a bad taste in my mouth and now my scope stays set at 2.5 most always while on the move. (Not saying at 2.5 I would have been anymore successful)

Bushnell ELITE 4-16x 50mm ....$600 NIB ...amazing scope for the $$$ ....good magnification, large 50mm objective lens for max light and clear, crisp image, sun shade and parallax focus.

I have it mounted on my Remington 700 SPS Tactical .223 Rem, and I love it.

SEASON'S GREETINGS...

Gslinger,

most of if not all are using Schott lenses ...

in the past Karl Zeiss Jena (ex Eastern Germany) called too Docter were making lenses and that was for all the Eastern block including Russia Hungary, Romania , DDR name it.

I don't know actually what kind of lenses Meopta is using but I know that the S&B made in Hungary were using Meopta lenses in the past.

not easy to follow.

I'm pretty sure all S&B scopes use lenses made in their Hungarian factory.
Meopta is Czech.

I know that Hungary and Czech Republic are different countries but that was at the time of the COMECOM the pendant for the EAST of EEC or UE they were sharing a lot ... today IOR has a facility to homebuilt lenses bringing by Docter or/and Carl Zeiss Jena (not the newest technology or treatment for sure) but I don't know if they re building them or not or if they re buying old Schott version. (Schott is not selling premium prices even if you are willing to pay max prices).

todays there is not that much countries building lenses and less of course not that much factories ...

what make the differences afterall is the treatment of the lenses that is the reason you will some differences into a scope with the same lenses used the terminal treatment made by some players like Zeiss, S&B or even Swarovski (those ones are apart and thank Kahles for that ...) the blue or the green effect ... and the tone of course ...
