Barrel Life?

I own a Savage model 12FV blue carbon barrel 26 inches long. How many rounds before it starts to wear out. I have about 3000 rounds now.

All chambering's are different, just google it, then order a new barrel.

.223 and .308 are rated at 5k to 8k rounds. Higher pressure rounds can cut that in half or more.

If you're still happy with its accuracy and it does what you need, then it ain't worn out yet.
Plenty of people would be happy to put another few thousand rounds through a match barrel that someone might throw out cause its "worn out" for competing purpose.

I heard it was more like 2.5-3 seconds for a match barrel but have not done the math myself. I usually start looking for a new barrel aroud the 3500-4000 round mark using .308.
