I love the value in the Axis line. I have a 22-250 and a 270. My dad has a .223. That being said I wouldn't mind one in a mag calibre. Any real reason why it isn't offered in say 7mm mag or .300WM ?

The stock is not very strong in the wrist area. I wouldn't want that coming back at me when it snaps. Maybe if you dropped it in a boyds stock. The model 11 is available in mag calibers.

If it is the stock mabey now that Boyds is offering stocks for the axis, Savage will offer magnum calibers in axis' equiped with Boyds stocks, Savage uses boyds as factory stocks on some of there other rifles.

Then again that would probably make for a $600 rifle, kinda getting out of the budget rifle catagory...

Well it is made in 30-06. The difference between 30-06 and 300WM in recoil is 6 lbs in 180gr pills. Doesn't seem like a stretch.

Yah but that extra 6lbs of recoil... Could be the ouch zone for some.

Also I just keep thinking back to a ultra light 300 weather by I shot once... Evil thing it was, my shoulder told me nope, does not want.

Yah anyway good times, Lol. ;)
