Most Ontario outdoor cards expire at the end of this month (December 2013). Renewal notices are no longer being sent out, so check your outdoor card's expiration date. You will need a valid outdoors card to enter next year's big game draws or buy a turkey license. Small game and fishing license expires with the card too.
 
Thanks for the reminder as I just checked and sure enough, mine expires in a few weeks.

The local CO's take great delight in checking for expired licences out on the ice in Jan & Feb.
 
Thanks, I always buy the 3 year card/license so I don't have to deal with it every year. I have another 12 months on mine

I know calendar year makes sense for expiry on some items, but in the case of hunting license, it doesn't. It's a very busy time of the year as it is.
Can you renew in August or September, when you probably get your tags. etc.? I think you can, which would be fine.
I wonder if you can enroll in an email reminder thing of some kind... a good number of us are buying tags/seals online already.
Edit: I just got my Hunting card and bought the small game for three years including these last three weeks of 2013. Might get out once or twice for rabbit on it :)

Reading that I'd almost wager money you're from the Cornwall area...the fish police are properly anal around here.
 
is it me...or did the prices skyrocket??? its saying $170.13 for a three year fish and game????? I could have sworn it used to be aroud $60 for three years!!!

It depends on when you got your first license. I've had a hunting license every year since 1975 and when the outdoors card came out, I always chose the 3 year option. I assume this is why most licenses expire this month; because most hunters who had the old license, did as I did, and therefore all our licenses expire at the same time.
 
I wonder what the new cards will look like given the out of country ownership and overall lack of funds in the MNR? They used to get creative and have different pictures on them - I miss those days. I've been looking at the same Turkeys for the last 6 years I think! My guess, is it will be very utilitarian. Any body receive the latest version yet?

New Outdoors Cards don't have the wildlife pictures and as you thought are utilitarian looking.
Personal info isn't raised embossed lettering anymore either
