Depending on the bullet a 180 gr may not work as well as a 150. For instance a 180gr TSX may not be going fast enough to expand much at 350 yards when launched from a 308. Whereas A 300 with the 180 at 350 yards will expand perfectly.
Gonna be hard to pick a bullet BEFORE you actually SHOULD. oot them in your gun. I have had literally DOZENS of bullet/barrel combinations that just wont shoot worth a hoot in my guns. I have only had 2 rifles that liked ANY kind of 165 grain bullet. Better to see what your gun likes first. I have several .30 cal guns that only shoot ONE weight of bullet well. (it shot all my PRE-RELOADING joy to hell, as I bought lots of different weight bullets ASSUMING they would shoot well, and sure enough, I got shotgun patterns.)
