Woohoo! I hope this means more affordable mags and parts. Maybe some cool accessories and stocks?

From TFB:

The Chilean manufacturer FAMAE now has a US importer, AD&R Imports is currently bringing in Law Enforcement and dealer samples of the FAMAE product line.

The AD&R Imports website is currently just a placeholder, but they are in the process of gaining approval to import some of the FAMAE guns as semi-auto pistols for the USA civilian market. They will be selling stocks and foregrips for NFA owners that chose to convert their weapons as an AOW or SBR. The pistols currently planned are the SAF, SAF200 (shown above), Mini SAF, and SG543. It has taken a year and a halt to gain approval for the restricted firearms, it can’t be easy to import these from Chile, the earliest we can anticipate seeing these civilian legal firearms would be the fourth quarter of 2014.

Regardless of the long wait, this is great news for collectors and fans of the SIG line of rifles. Cold War rifle collectors will be anxious to hear of an SG542 import, the first time a 540/550 variant would be available in .308 to the USA market.

Listings below are From the AD&R Imports dealer price sheet, LE prices would be lower for quantity and tax exemptions.

Several dealers (including ourselves) have these guns on back order. The sample gun I handled was OD green but the first batch coming will be black. The over all finish seemed a little rough but this was a prototype sample and I expect the production models to be a little better. The two Canadian models will be SG540-1, .223/5.56, fixed stock, non resticted 495 mm barrel c/w 2 mags, sling and cleaning kit and SG542-1, 308 win/7.62x51, fixed stock, non restricted 495 mm barrel c/w 2 mags, sling and cleaning kit. Price should be around $3000. Phil.

At a gunshow in the US you could literally buy 45 x G3/HK91 mags for the price of a single SG542 mag. I can't see the guns selling very well there outside the collector market.

They would have to set up shop in the US if they want to do business there. Just like every other firearms manufacture.

3 grand for a South American rifle.... Jesus.

I'm all for selection, and am happy these are coming in; but there's no way in hell I'd drop the kinda coin that buys Tavors, XCRs, and even Swiss Arms in some cases.

I have had the famae saf and the swiss arms cqb. Their is no comparison between the two. The swiss arms rifles have excellent quality control, are well made, and have perfect fit and finish. The SAF is fun but it has very poor fit and finish, rough machining, and sloppy welds for gun costing over 2k. My 5 year old could make a better finish with a can of tremclad then the famae factory produces. Also I'm not a big fan of there mags either.

The middle men and importers are no doubt gonna make an absolute killing on these things. I tried to find prices for these guns in South America but it seems impossible.

If Canadian dealers are gonna sell for $2900, and they're buying from a US distributor, that guy is most likely paying $1200-1500 per gun tops… which in my mind is probably what they should be worth to begin with, considering their origin. How is it possible that we can buy Made in the USA ACRs, ARs, XCRs, and Tavors for the same amount? Someone is raking in the cash on this import… wages in Chile are a fraction of ours.

If you check out our thread on this you can see the production process at FAMAE. There is no US involvement in this project. Furthermore, the US cost for a standard production military gun is $2850US, ours are specifically made for the Canadian market and the cost is similar. Sorry nobody is getting rich quick and FAMAE charges what FAMAE charges; they don't really care what anyone on CGN thinks the price should be.
