In a 1/9 twist brand new barrel... Yes I thought at first my barrel was toast, until I mesured the diameter of the projectile: 0.220"...(Hornady FMJBT are .224, so does the lake cities.) Shot bout 100rds today and got 2 perfect shaped keyhole on target @ 25m.

I think that I read on here somewhere else about this happening and the shooter measured the bullets to be undersized. There may be info there for you if you can find it.

There are quite a few threads about this already, and the conclusion is that it's hit and miss (pun intended) even inbetween the same lots of ammo.

I've been avoided big cases of the Norinco 5.56. I swear that I will open the case to find wood shoved in as bullets. I have gotten a 40rd pack of the Norinco 5.56 and it shot really well out of my 5.56 Vz 58. I bought Norinco 7.62x51 that a vendor was selling in 140rd packs and 50% of them have a split case. My M305 eats them up without issue. No extraction problems or gun blowing up in my face problems.

I've been lucky with the Nork ammo I've been shooting so far. Hopefully none of the batches I have will yield oddly sized bullets.

I've had 5.56 NATO canadian made IVI keyhole, but 99.9% dont.

Could be the tunsten/armor penetrator inside it making it off spin.

That would be impossible because...
well...
Everyone here will tell you you're out to lunch and that Norinco is just fine.

The Norinco 223 is just fine, for what it is...cheap plinking 223 ammo. Actually, it makes pretty good zombie defense ammo too - ever seen a zombie hit with a 55g pill at full tumble? ;)

Hopefully you didn't purchase 1,600 of it!
Oh yes because at that rate, the OP can expect a staggering 32 keyholes in cardboard! The horror!!! :D

well.....I have fired over 8k norc rounds in the last 4 months I run it for close up speed drills, skills and drills and Courses both taken and taught ..... no issues at all holds 2 moa out to 300 meters out of my KAC 16" I have also shot a #### pile of Fed,AE and white box without a hitch

most issues I have heard of had to do with shorter carbines

but it smells bad lol but it is what it is.... cheap shat ammo not fed GMM

No, the problems have had to do with poor quality control in ammo production. Also the far more serious issue is the pierced and blown primers which were destroying firing pins and occasionally bolts. We ran lots of this ammo on the range here too. Unfortunately any savings in ammo were eaten up in maintenance issues that the ammo caused.
For those that have not had issues in a crate or three, good. Please be aware that you are playing Russian roulette though.
