Mare's Leg/Ranch hand questions.

Thanks guys for all the info, I went ahead and purchased a Chiappa Take down version in .357, picking it up tomorrow. I'll post a detailed report once I get some play time with it.

This one in .44mag is my project for this winter. Not much to look at but it's modified with the sole purpose of easy carry in the hills.
I fitted the synthetic stock and my buddy cut and shaped the lever for me (thanks limit_time!)
The silver solder didn't hold so I am thinking I'll get it tack welded.
Cerakote and a stevesgunz sight set will complete it, and I'll be carrying it in the mountains come spring.

Would kind of defeat the purpose though....they are designed to be super short...lots of full stock levers out there already.

Shorter overall length? I just find them awkward to shoot with the short stock/one handed. Maybe it's just me but I just didn't care for it. But i think they would be more fun with a normal stock.

I agree they are very awkward to shoot one-handed...I shoot mine two handed and can shoot a decent group at 20 yards...all I need for my use.

I have not read what anyone else has said, but I own an older Rossi puma, its smooth, I also own a winchester 1892 made in 1900, SMOOOOTH, I picked up a rossi ranch hand the other day, cocked it a few times, and decided its not for me. It felt AWFUL (Might just be the one model I held) Clunkly, like 6 clicks on one move of the lever.

Edit: I have no lost hope, I will handle another in the future to see, but I want .44 mag, so if I find a chiappa and like it, I will be picking it up.

Was a suggestion for the rear by another member that is getting poa, poi with that combo. Haven't sighted it in yet.

There is this one that some guys are running on the rear.

Also if you are having problems with a really stiff extractor I will show you where to grind some metal off without buying a $20 dvd

Seems some dealers out there are playing a game.

advertizing MONTLY SPECIALS, when the product's not even in stock

Let's say there a MARCH special on the RANCH HAND @ 559 free ship. but the product as not been in stock since January ...Not of course when it does come in , these dealers will up the price.

Is the RANCH HAND 357 available in any dealer as of now?
