Howdy Gentlemen,
Finally got out to the range with my DE50 that i bought awhile ago from Profit River and the Coonan I just bought from Questar.
Here are some general impressions
DE50: lots of fun. the recoil was not near as bad as i thought it would be. in fact, i don't think it was as sharp as my 4.2 629 loaded with american eagle. only shot about 20 rounds of Hornady but it functioned flawlessly. Given the cost of the 50AE, glad i have the 44 barrel on order. i think the 44 would be a more enjoyable to shoot more often but it will be fun to pull out the 50 every once in a while when i bring friends to the range.
Coonan: All i can say is that I absolutely love the Coonan. the feel of the gun really works for me. good grip size, accurate and reliable. Also, a surprisingly soft shooting gun. definitely softer than my 6" 686. i was shooting it as well off hand at 25 yards as i shoot my sig X5 AR. I only shot a box 180 gr Remington (at $50 a box that was enough), but no problems at all. It is a little hard on the brass though. Can't wait to really break it in with a few hundred rounds and try it at 50 yrs and in 38 special. I can't recommend it highly enough. this will be a keeper. the Coonan is making me wonder if i am a little more partial to 1911s. haven't shot many 1911s but may have to investigate.
cheers
