Bought a m38 at the end of Summer and was away for months, so I was only able to unpack it now. After cleaning it up, I found the bolt would slide out when cycling it 75% of the time. When I mean slide out, I mean the bolt would detach from the rifle. Does this mean my trigger spring needs replacing, or the bolt stopper thing near the trigger is worn out? Is there anymore anything else I can still do before having to considerer looking for replacement parts?

In the Mosin, the trigger spring act also as the sear and the bolt stop. Inspect carefully to be sure there's no cosmoline build up that would prevent the spring to return in position. In a refurb rifle, the part may not fit quite right. Also the spring might have cracked and will need replacement. Pics might help.

Actually, the trigger acts as the bolt stop. The assembly must be in good alignment for everything to work properly & its hard to type a coherent explanation as to how to fit it all together. Might want to try another trigger & see if that helps. You may also be able to train yourself not to work the bolt so much, just ejecting the spent cartridge is enough.
