Looking for opinions on the polytech version 2009
of the m305 22" version. Good, Bad, decent year

Mine's an 09 and I've had zero issues with it.

I DID have it tuned (and shortened - this was before the shorties came out from the factory) but even before I had the work done, it ran flawlessly with hunting ammo (I've never run surplus in it).

For the most part I'd call it a good year.
 
From what I remember the 09's and the few years preceding it are supposed to be some of the best. But someone much more knowledgeable in the platform will soon chime in.
 
The 2009's seem to have very few issues compared to some later years. Mine had two minor issues of the list of possible issues. One,.. the sight aperture was drilled off center, a quick fix with a used USGI aperture for $15.00 however I chose a Garand sight for future durability though the chines one functioned perfectly, and 2,.. the barrel was customarily over indexed( slightly over tightened into the receiver). It hasn't caused any problems for me shooting over irons the distances I can shoot on our range(0-300) so I haven't even took the time to re-index for iron sight perfection. Trigger was good, finish was great, bolt bears great, mags fit and function perfect and the list goes on which from following these rifles since the 2009 lot were imported seems to be typical. I miised Barneys clinic that I had registered for:(, and maybe if he comes back this way I'll get her re-indexed.

Again it functioned great out of the box and everything I've done with it since new was unnecessary as far as a great functioning $400 semi auto center-fire rifle was concerned. I've added shims $5.00, an op rod spring guide $35.00, op rod spring $10.00, Garand rear sights $100.00 and a NM flash hider $80 etc, and painted the cheap looking black stock Krylon OD green $7.00,... but that's just some tinkering with it for my own DIY satisfaction.

My first M305 is a 2009 Poly, bought used here on the EE. I've put 3-4000 rounds through it, and it's the only one I don't think I'd ever sell.
No bayonet lug, but that an easy fix.
 
I have 5 chinese m14s , my 2009 polytech Bell Lifestyle is the best one , most accurate, action smooth as butter and best finish , parkerizing seems a bit more grey than the others. im at well over 2000 rounds without even one little hiccup only replaced the rear sight, most of my others i had to work out a few bugs .. I have seen rifles from pretty much every batch since the 2007 Marstar rifles and i would say the 2009 polytech Bell Lifestyle imports were the best .
