Hey everyone. Just thought I would share what I have done to my non refurb 1950 sks. She is not all the way done like I want it to be but getting there. I did a bit of sanding today and seem to like the look right now. Dont know if I should get it clear all the way or not

looks good, I do not get people who dislike the SKS being modified they made millions of them they are not rare, what type of pistol grip did you use.

What a monstrosity. There is a special place in hell for people who butcher non refurb sks's. The new colour is ok. A pistol grip is not.

I think if I am not comfortable shooting the rifle the way it is, it is my rifle to do what I please to make it more comfortable for me to shoot it.
I also cut the away at the stock on the bottom to allow for the pistol grip to sit right.

I used this ( http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/details/9512/Armalite-AR-10M-15-Pistol-Grip-Black.aspx ) from Wolverine supplies. It allows me to remove the trigger assembly without removing the pistol grip. It has a hole from factory in the grip that allows the screw to go in and secure it to the stock but its off in the sks application so I had to drill another hole to actually get it to sit where I wanted it to and the factory allows me to release the assembly.

There are thousands of refurb Russian rifles and new unissued Type 56's out there, why does Bubba have to ruin a non refurb? Original Lee Enfields are north of $600 now for the same reason. Remember those? Dime a dozen and not rare or worth anything? Uh huh.

Hey! Im not Bubba! lol
Just happens to be the gun that I have. Didn't want to go and buy a second SKS just to shoot it and have the other one to look at it. Don't see the point in having a gun and not shooting it. My personal opinion and I am never planning to sell my SKS anyhow so resale value doesn't bother me one bit

Then sell the UNREFUB and use a refurb instead. There are Millions of Chinese 56 not Russians... The fact you used the title you did you knew you would get flack for it... and yes, any modification to an original milsurp is Bubba no matter how well done.

Not hammering you just stating that if you wanted to change one you could have used a Chinese 56 like I did and left a rarer unrefurb originals alone. They are going to run out. Oh well you made mine more valuable at least...

you know they said the ame thing about enfields. Now try and find a non bubba enfield in good shape. If you do find one for sale odds are your not paying less then $500 for it

You can still find them for south of $450, harder and harder to get though. I'm glad I got mine for $300 even back in '06... would have bought 10 if I knew then what I know now.

Ahhh the modded SKS... the juggalo of the firearm world.

I can't wait until the OP posts more pics with a ton of NC Star garbage on his takti-kewl rifle. It's just a 'see thru' dust cover scope mount and shell deflector away from pure bubba. Haha.

Looks Fun. I personally think that the rest of the guys on here need to get a life. The only reason that they're getting $600.00 for their original Endfields is that most of them have been changed in one shape or form. If your worried about wreaking history, you buy them all up.

Looks like you did not sand all the shellac off? I'm all for doing what makes you happy, but that don't make me happy..lol

Want a pistol grip on a 7.62 red rifle get a cv/vz or something.

I knew it was going to divide out, some people don't mind some people hate it. To each their own. I'm not going to hide what I like because someone somewhere doesn't see the need of me doing it. That is why we all have our opinions. I am thinking of sanding it all the way down and finishing it in a darker shade. The fact that it is all matching serial and excellent condition when I got it doesn't mean that it is untouchable and has to be worshipped. I didn't purchase the rifle to modify it, I purchased it to enjoy it and in order to do that I have to modify it.
I also have an all matching low serial tok with a spotless pouch that I will probably change the grips on and maybe give it a paint job. Then I will also post it here for y'all to hate lol.
