Any input greatly appreciated. Also any info on what calibre is best in this rifle? Lets hear what you have for me and maybe even some pictures. Would you buy it as a Christmas present for yourself? Let me know!!

Thanks
Anthony

I live next to a few gun range that rents them. They don't have anything good to say about them. Jams all the time. They brake. but keep in mind the gun propably shoots 1000 round a week and goes for " who knows how long " before it gets cleaned.

In my experience, the buffer is too light in the 9mm. Works good. mine has shot lots of 9mm 147gr subsonic...125pf - 144 pf. ..it takes glock mags...I like that it can switch from left to right for ejection and bolt handle.
I am using a heavy tungsten buffer and removed the white spacer. I am using the shorten buffer spring that came with it.

The early JR's had issues with the 45 caliber. The newer ones being sold have been fixed. The only major problems is when you use non-glock magazines, and of course - if you don't clean them it'll gum up like any rifle.
Pistol caliber rifles are fun for a while, but past 100 yards the caliber reaches it's limit. Yeah sure, people shoot it 200 yards+ but it's not near as accurate as other rifles.

There are tonnes of other JR carbine related threads, use the search function to read up on it. Cleaning it sucks and is a long chore, etc.

I got rid of my 9mil Jr. I did not like the fact that the charging handle was a Hex Head bolt and a lock washer. That it was held together with screw as a posed to pins. That you have to remove the butt stock/ gas tube to get at the bolt.
I know they fixed a lot of the early issues .My solution to there design issues was to buy a Theuron Defence 9mil.

My good friend has one in 45 and it has had no issues. I've heard about issues with the 45 but he has been lucky. It's worked with all the types of ammo we've put through it without an issue. 100 yards though is it for range, wouldn't be effective much past that. It's a fun little rifle though.

friend has the newer 45 and it has nothing but problems still.

Might be worth looking at Thureon defence, then you can get a 10mm and they seem to have worked out all the bugs from their early models.

I bought my JR in 9mm when they first came out, I ran 200 rounds of American Eagle ammo through it and it functions flawlessly. I bought a cheap Lee mold to cast bullets for it and have shot around 2000 rounds with 4grns of Unique and it has ran amazingly well with this load. I don't size the bullets, just tumble lube with Allox. Not even a little bit of lead in the barrel. I ordered the 45 conversion kit for it last March, and thats when I had a little trouble with it. The trigger wouldn't reset with the 45 kit in it, but would work awesome with the 9mm set up. So a quick call to EMF who manufactures the JR told me the triggers in the earlier ones were a little weak and it would require a different trigger to fix it. I told them I would order one up and put it in and try it, and they said they would just send me a whole new one in the mail. It arrived in the mail a few weeks latter and it solved the problem. I was really happy that they sent me the trigger for nothing, as it was out of warrenty for over a year.

My buddy has a JR in 9mm. I tried it and it was a bit fun but gets tired really fast. I wouldn't want it but I have an XCR-L and an SR-22 so I have most of its bases covered.

Where did you order the conversion kit, and how much did it run you?

Heres mine in the middle, its a 9mm and I bought it used, I shoot reloads using 124gr berrys plated round nose and 125gr LRN with 4.2 grains of win231 and it works fine other than the occasional damaged brass case.

Cleaning/dissasembling it isnt as bad as some people say, but its not as simple as breaking down an AR (nothing is). Mine came to me set up in the left handed configuration, I swaped it to right handed and in doing so I noticed it was missing a spring in the extractor. I emailed the company in NY and let them know what I was missing, told them I bought it used and asked for a price with shipping, they sent me a new spring and extractor pin at no charge, I was impressed.

I am only interested in this because I want a nr for blasting in the backyard but can't afford the rob arms! If I can get an inch or so at 50 yds and it goes bang every time you pull the trigger it will serve its purpose.

I have one in 40SW and it's a fun gun to shoot. Only had 1 issue with light strikes, but JRC shipeed me a new fp and spring n/c, has run great since then.

It's fun at 50 yds, decent accuracy too. At 100 yds it gets a bit harder to get decent groups, but still hits the target.

I have one in 9mm, it needs to be run dripping with lube, but once its all oiled up its one hell of an accurate carbine. Banging 10 inch gongs at 200 yards with it!!!

I've got my 9mm JR two weeks ago. 200 rounds through it, and a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y no problem with it. Fun to shoot, inexpensive ammo, and it's NR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thats an awesome gun.
