I was thinking of installing some swivel cups for quick detachable swivels on a laminate stock. My plan was to drill a recess in the stock and epoxy them in place. I have found them for sale on amazon.ca but they are $29 but they want $31 shipping. Has anyone done this and/or know of a reasably priced source for such parts? I see they are made by Uncle Mikes and several specialty outifts, for sale in several Americal sites but nothing in Canada. If only Brownells shipped here.

Those swivel cups are a pain in the butt.

I far prefer the QD mounts that fit into the studs supplied by the rifle stock manufacturer.

I just sold a set of those to a fellow that owns a Shultz & Larson. Both of the cups on his stock had been damaged and he knew I had a set. Sorry, just the one.

Give Del Selin's a call, he is a paying advertiser on this site. 250-547-2370 9-5PST, Tuesday to Saturday. The stuff he has in his old cabinets is amazing.

Thanks for the info. I got the idea from another web site where a fellow had a stock made for his Ruger Scout rifle by McMillan with swivel cups on the side of the butt stock and up near the fore end, so the rifle can be carried in front similar to an AR sort of carry. This way it will hang upright when carried in that manner. Otherwise I would stick with standard swivel studs. I recently used them on AR carbines and found it handy to bring the rifle up fast. So I figure why not on a bolt action.

Brownells does ship to Canada.

When I add them to cart it says, "Foreign Shipping- This item cannot be shipped out of the United States. Foreign Sales- This item cannot be sold out of the United States."

You were both right. Turns out Uncle Mikes can't be shipped out of country (go figure). Grovtech were no problem. Ordered Grovtech. It makes me leery when they wont tell you how much shipping is going to cost until after they ship. I guess if you have to ask you can't afford it. Gotta love this site. I can always find an answer when i am stumped. Thanks.

The GrovTec ones are better made and if you get the HD model they are actually threaded to screw into the stock. Drill a 1/4" hole and then use a counterbore to make the correct size hole and then thread (don't remember the sizes off the top, let me know if you are stuck and I will look it up). Apply epoxy and then screw in with a hex wrench until the depth is right. It will all make sense when you get them.

"...Turns out Uncle Mikes can't be shipped out of country..." Uncle Mike's kit is readily available in Canada. Epp's for one. Helps if you put your location on your profile.
"...they wont tell you how much shipping is..." Shipping charges are set by the carrier, not the retailer.

I would have guessed that there was no chance of Michaels of Oregon not being able to export given how much we see in stores. Must be a Brownell's thing. That said, if Ian says that the GrovTec are better then you've won by accident. Can't complain about that!

Just checked my local wholesaler and they do have Mikes standard duty cups in stock so they are obviously available in Canada. Probably a territory thing between dealers. Just for interest, in Europe this kind of thing is illegal.

I almost bought some from amazon a while ago too but shipping killed the interest, I ended up getting some off ebay for much less.
