What is the quality and reliability of the Dominion Arms M14. Are they worth the $449.99 that Canada Ammo is asking for them. Which is better Norinco or Dominion Arms. Merry Christmas and many thanks for your Thoughts

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but dominion arms and norinco m14's are the same, produced by the same company. I think the dominion arms ones are supposed to have been built with better quality control I think for CanAm

In my view, these rifles are a heckuva deal for what you get. That being said, you have to realize that quality control issues crop up fairly frequently, and that some minor tweaking and parts upgrades may be required to make them work their best. If you are prepared to address possible issues [read the stickies and other threads on the subject], you should end up with a great gun for a quarter the price of an M1A.

The only other problem is the insane urge you may feel to trick the guns up with aftermarket parts and stocks. My three M305s all have Beretta rear sights, and two of them have aftermarket recoil spring guides and aftermarket stocks. Other people have spent far more...

This is VERY true! I wonder why it is? Just from the joy of realizing such a great savings?

There's also a very strong urge to buy a second and a third one. :p

Considering you can get four for the price of a Springfield, with a few accurizing parts and mount for each.. it's kind of a no-brainer. The cost of US arms are so high in comparison due to their own legislation constantly increasing the prices. The Norinco M14 receiver was very accurately reproduced and is made from good steel.

Remember that it's still a "diamond in the rough" since they are assembled my various high school shop classes. Knowing how to tweak them for their accuracy potential sure helps the surprised look on yer face when you cut your hands on the sharp operating rod handle.

Sometimes their dimensions of their parts are goofy and need some more fine tuning , but hey, it's a battle rifle wannabe for $500 and less (I hope).

Please don't rush into a purchase thinking that this platform is money well spent. I would not call it that. Hang around each other here on the MBR forum and learn from each other. Don't suffer in silence. If you ask for help, ensure you remind people your location so that help is nearby. ALL of us had to journey along the learning curve.... all of us were a newbie at one time or another!

Lots of help in our community! :D That's what the owner of this CGNutz board intended!

Cheers,
