Mine liked S&B 147gr FMJ.
I've heard some of them like the MFS stuff.

I've never been a fan of feeding a quality firearm the cheapest crappiest ammo I can find and expecting to get any performance other than it going bang.
If you can afford a $2000+ rifle you should be able to afford to feed it decent ammo.

Thanks cr5 and Brian46

Guns are like Dogs, the initial purchase price is a fraction of what it costs to feed it over its life. Hence the search for the compromise between $ and performance.

PM me if you handload, I'll give you some places to start. I still have all my reloading data from my RFB even though I sold it a couple weeks ago.
Then you can shoot what works for the price of bulk.

I have had great luck with the Hornady Steel Match. 155gr Works very well and cycles very well for commercial ammo. It comes in 50rd boxes too which is nice when you shoot 150-200 each outing.

Normally that would be dead on. However the RFB is an exception. The nin brass casing seems to increase accuracy. Check out the RFB accuracy thread by Fireball. In that thread go to the results Stormtrooper had using 145 MFS ammo. After destroying cinder blocked he posted a 10 round 100 meter group. It was better by a fair amount than the $2 a round match ammo or quality reloads. Including one 175 grain reload that turned out to be the ticket for the AR10. That thread is long but worth reading all of it if you own or are considering a RFB.

US RFB owners have also confirmed similiar results. You'll also notice there have been a number of happy 180 grain Winchester silver tip users. I seem to recall when I used those rounds and had mediocre results with a bolt action that they had zinc casings.

The current theory is that the zinc or metal casing cases the bullet to lead out better or the expansion in the chamber is better fir accuracy with the RFB. Remember the RFB is a tilting block. No bolt lock up.

Anyways worth looking into. I know which choice I'd make. I have two boxes of it and plan on getting more later.

Don't have a RFB, but my M305 likes the Chinese surplus almost as much as hand loads… Not sure if Canada Ammo's free shipping extends as far North as you, but if it does that is usually a good money saver...

As in many rifle it seems often the same model like diffrent ammo, my rfb like Winchester silver tip in 168gr (1.25-2) and is fairly decent with norinco surpluss (1.5-2.5)

I found the MFS softpoint to be surprisingly accurate for cheap plinking ammo + it can easily be used as a hunting round. For the most part though, I really like the 168 grain ballistic silvertips. I haven't reloaded yet for the RFB but I have enough brass to set up a little run - I've already bought 250 Nosler ballistic tip 168gr, so I'm anxious to try and replicate the silvertip results, for a fraction of the cost.

Alright CanadaAmmo has shipped my 1000 round case. $450 bucks. Free shipping. I punched in the shipping calculator to see what they probably paid to ship to NWT. $210 dollars! Thank you CanadaAmmo for honouring your free shipping policy!!

Its arrived

Buffalo airways just delivered my 1000 rounds of 308. Now just need my sights to come in and I can go spend a day at the range.
