Not that I am aware of. The only large rate increase that I know of is Canada Post parcels going to Fort McMurray. They are starting to charge a surcharge for that area for 2014.

Domestic UPS is OK at least in my town. Purolator delivers for them since they have a deal to deliver when there is no local UPS service.
I had a look through my history and I guess the rate seems higher because the crates I am looking at now are heavier than crates I bought previously. Calculates to about the same $/kg.

I ordered 3K rounds of 556 and 9mm with SFRC's boxing day sale. The package was supposed to be delivered by UPS yesterday. They changed the date to today. Today, I got 5 emails from UPS saying that there was an ''exception'' with my parcel because it was ''left at a UPS facility''. I called them up to see if I could drive to the UPS depot to simply pick them up. The lady on the phone then said she didn't know where the boxes were and might have been left in a truck somewhere. Brilliant service, I must say.
 
Every courier is the same. Each of us has horror stories with one and it really comes down to how your local driver is. For me, Fedex Ground sucks in my area but the others are great.
