With regards to the $700 trg bipod. I haven't used it. Is it worth $700? I realize it lowers the rifle which is a plus but for a negative, it doesn't lock into place either.

what do you mean it doesn't "lock in to place"

I have it and paid much less that $700, it locks to the gun, legs lock in to position, feet extend and lock.....tho only thing that does not lock is the tilt/swivel part but it is not sloppy

Worth every penny of the $450 that it sells for stateside. $700 is just the price our friendly dealers in Canada charge us.

I have 2 and will be buying a third. The only other bipod worth this money is the LRA, very nice as well.
There seems to be a lot of misinformation regarding the design. People think that because it is initially fairly loose feeling that it is not as stable or secure. It is purposefully designed this way so that you can pan/tilt/track your target (military) and when you wish to stabilize it you simply load the bipod by pushing into it slightly and it "locks up" nice and ridged. It is absolutely rock steady when used properly.

the tilt swivel is what i was referring too. I've been looking online and i've been finding older posts as well. From what I can tell. TRGs ingeneral accessories and rifles are going UP in price? Eg. Mags are now about $250 each and i've talked to ppl saying they paid less for that. If by all means you know of a site or a person selling for cheaper then the prices i've said. Please share. With the Coyotes because your buying from them direct. There is no differences in prices.

I have seen the states sell them cheaper. ie brownells. however it says there are restrictions on exporting them. Which I thought was only for parts that produce the firearm from firing. And not acc.

almost everything for a gun including accessories require paperwork to come from the US, many retailers just simply wont deal with selling/exporting to canada.

Every year manufacturers have been raising prices, more so for european arms than anything.

So I don't suppose anyone knows anyone from Ontario (Petawawa/Belleville) area that owns one of these Coyotes that i can see first hand?

I should mention the Coyote is on sale right now for $4800 i believe

They are a wickedly good system. I have a Coyote with the folding chassis in green. If you were closer to Winnipeg I could give you a test drive. :D Cheers

If I had that kind of money to spend on a rifle, I'd seriously consider an AI AE MkIII. They're reportedly as accurate as the TRG and are a very durable design. A major plus is that they use AICS mags that are considerably less expensive than the Sako mags and you can use the much more common and relatively inexpensive Harris bi-pods.

The Coyote is no doubt a fine platform as well but is considerably more money. Whatever floats your boat. You can't go wrong with any of them.

Yes the 3rcr boys have timber wolves as well and I'm sure once we are off leave and back. To Work I'll be heading over to their cq and asking if I can pull one out

The AI AE has been discontinued, can no longer be ordered. Only way to get one now is used or import one from the states. Wait until Jan for anything AI, new models will be revealed at shot 2014

As of now i'm still just looking between the trg22 and the coyote. Things that have me on the fence are. Coyote doesn't seem to have anything bad about them other then Not a fan of the camo paintjob or the 8round mags (would prefer 10round mags) but they are Canadian so Customer service is up there in the plus. TRG22 may actually be cheaper if i find an importer such as Prophet Arms. American sites i can find the rifle for $3000 I don't know much about the importing costs through them yet. I have sent them an email.

Checked out mile high shooting and they have a TRG with the trg bipod for 3599+tax.

Imported from the US. Mile High Shooting is one of several US AI distributors.

Did you get one through MileHigh? I spoke to them and they won't sell the rifle if its going to be exported into Canada. Maybe they have changed since last year.

No. However, your FFL doesn't have to tell them where the rifle is going if you make the purchase arrangement through them. If you try to go through a place like Irunguns, you're bound to run into difficulties.

Too my understanding Prophet River arms are capable of getting them with a fee. I am waiting to here back.
everyone charges a fee except for Irunguns for rifles they have in stock in the USA. do you really think there will be much savings after you factor in exchange rate and fees on $3600 usd?
