Robarms XCR FAQ post

Well here is the L as of today. I am just waiting on the .223 conversion, and Pmags; I may throw a AAC Brakeout on as soon as I get bored enough to type in my VISA number. I will be getting a custom charging handle made and milling the rails hopefully soon; the hiking shotty is next in line to see the machinist though.

Just curious about the different stocks available, have the fast stock that came with rifle. Its ok but I would like something a bit wider. Any recommendations on what to avoid. There seems to be a lot of different types and styles available.

With an adapter, available for purchase from one of the site sponsors, you can use any stock that fits an AR

Took my rifle out today before the blizzard hit manitoba, puck do I love this rifle, just can't get enough. I guess this was the coldest I've had it out in -22 withouth the wind I believe. I wanted to take some more pics but it was too cold to #### around with that nonsense.

do you know if the new bolts fit in the old upper? I did a #### load of custom work to my upper and I would rather not replace it.

Upgrading an Older XCR - Photos

Hi Guys,

There are many "upgrade kits" that have been offered by Robinson Armament to bring older XCR rifles up to date with new improvements.

Here is an early XCR that was recently upgraded with:

- upgraded gas block
- upgraded trigger
- upgraded ambidextrous safety
- upgraded bolt open catch
- new stock (Magpul PRS)
- new stock adapter (NEA rev 2)
- new pistol grip
- new trigger guard (Magpul)

The upgrade was straight forward and made a significant difference in the rifle, especially the trigger.

Grumpy Wolverine posted that mods to the lower would be needed to work with the new bolt but it sounds like it should be possible to retrofit an older model. Think it was in their shot show coverage?

Bojangles, how do you like your PRS? Any improvement in accuracy? I've read they are slow to adjust which isn't a problem if you only shoot at one position, but I use mine for coyote hunting and like the adjustable length since clothing needs can vary quite a bit. Do you find it's comfortable to use offhand or just seated/prone?

I like the FAST but when I move the wrong way can get it to wobble a bit.

Thanks.

Hi 700-223

Bojangles, how do you like your PRS?

I wanted an adjustable cheek piece and the PRS had that feature. It seems to work well, but the PRS adds weight :( The other downside is that the adapter adds length although I don't mind it. The length adjustment is limited and not nearly as much as a 6 position sliding stock. Is spite of this, I am happy with the PRS because it does suit me.

Any improvement in accuracy?

Unfortunately I have not been able to do much with it due to the winter weather. I have not had the opportunity for range time to test how the new trigger & stock affect accuracy. However the test firing after the modifications looked promising. The new trigger was well worth the price and I expect improvement because of the much better trigger "break".

Do you find it's comfortable to use offhand or just seated/prone?

The Robinson XCR is a bit heavy to begin with and adding "extra stuff" does not help. I find most of my shooting with the XCR is done off the bench or prone. Since I no longer have the strength of youth I find that my offhand shooting ability suffers with a heavier rifle. The Robinson XCR is a comfortable rifle to shoot either offhand or seated/prone.

Cheers !!!!

Othoboy,
does the weight of the spectre optic improve the weight distribution of the XCR M? handled one in a shop and it felt way front heavy.
