Glock 17: 2000 Rounds - No cleaning, No lube

Was it IVI CDN Mk 1 9mm ball? Military Sig P226's are restricted from firing the CDN Mk 1 ammo due to light primer strikes. There is no problem with using this ammo in the Brownings and for some reason is not restricted for use in the P225's.

I am curious now and want to put one or two of my guns through this test just to see what happens.

Clob - will you keep going with it or have you cleaned it?

What's the grip treatment on that 17? Looks real clean (unlike the slide :) )

No, I have it soaking in G96 as I write this.

I did the stippling with a soldering iron. It's grippy as hell.

Yeah, that's the stuff. Was in an old brown box, marked as you describe. The ammo was old and dark and snappy as hell. It was smokey and stank! I can imagine guys pumping that #### through some old SMG; the smell must have been just horrid.

Thanks for the information about the restriction. It makes sense, because the 226 hated it, and that particular pistol has never had a failure before.

cool post op, ill try the same with my Glock 22 RTF2. See if the .40cal will perform as well. It already had 500 rounds or so down the pipe, but has been cleaned. So ill start from now tell i get 2000 rounds with zero cleaning.

My collection of ammo is American Eagle 180g FMJ, so ill just stick to that. I do have some Winchester Ranger T-Series 180g JHP, but i kinda want to keep that.

Weird shot thousands of round through a p226 with newer IVI MK1 ball and had no issues

In my police days, g17 in uk and g22 here we would shoot 2000+ rounds in a day plenty of times. Sometimes for days and days in a row. Never saw any issues with any glocks due to this. We would clean the guns a couple of times a week, so they regularly had a few thousand rounds between cleaning.
My initial firearms course in the uk was 7 weeks of shooting. Must of shot well over 30,000 rounds on that course.

Glocks like to be run pretty dry, barely need any oil. And once dirty I swear the dirt acts like dry lube. I know I did close to 10,000 without cleaning and had no issues.
My g22 I used here was so worn from all the times I shot it the slide was almost silver from holster wear, and the barrel was very worn from slide contact. Apart from routine maintenance had no issues and it was used when I got issued it. I couldn't even guess it's total round count. I know I shot 25000 through it in one summer. The range was open every Wednesday and had unlimited ammo to practice.

Thats incredible that it ate up so many rounds. Not all brands have that track record.

Some of the training guns must have 100s of thousands of round through them.
The uk police you have a duty gun, and a training specific pool of guns so you don't wear out the duty one. So they are used all day every single day by multiple officers.
I know they get used a lot more than the average Canadian cop's gun. Uk police we had to re qualify monthly. So there's a few hundred per officer every single month. And I think we had about 30 training guns for my unit of 120 officers, so they were used lots.
