Just out of curiosity I pulled apart a Brenneke Heavy Field Short Magnum 2 3/4" 1 1/4oz slug and a Score 1oz slug. Since they're not even the same weight it's a bit of comparing apples to oranges but anyway:

Score is on the left and Brenneke on the right

Score:

Brenneke:

The Score slug had a very deep design like a Foster while the Brenneke was nose heavy with a larger proportion of the lead in the nose (keep in mind the Brenneke is 1/4oz heavier).

Notice the Brenneke is shorter even though it is a heavier slug, this is because more of the cavity is full towards the nose.

Brenneke powder on the right is square cut stuff.

Nice! I wonder how the manufacturing differences affect terminal performance

I haven't shot the Score slugs yet and haven't used the Brenneke on animals yet. I found the Brennekes to be very accurate (in smooth bore slug terms). I have been disappointed in terminal performance in typical Foster slugs which is why I'm looking for other options.

I would like to see how they compare in performance to the Challenger Slugs. I know those slugs are very good.

Agreed. Side by side with challengers and the SCORE slugs would be nice. Thanks to the OP for the review though, i just placed my order for 200 slugs!
