Lipstick on a pig..Boyds stock on savage axis

My Boyds stock arrived today. These photos do not do the Boyds stock justice. I am really impressed. It was a perfect fit and the gun just dropped into the boyds stock. The boyds completely does away with the plastic trigger group cover on the factory stock and replaces the plastic trigger guard with metal.

Money well spent. Wood, even in laminate, makes everything look better. Only my Benelli's are black with the comfortech system.

It is nice when it just drops in like that, isn't it? My SKS Timbersmith stock took over two hours of gently carving and shaving it to perfection.

You got lucky but it looks great!
 
That is not just lipstick... you can properly relieve and bed the action/barrel into a rigid stock and significantly improve the accuracy and consistency... but it looks good too. ;)
 
I am considering getting an axis or american because I accidentally ended up with a 300wsm which is a tad big for black tail, but didn't see the option for the stocks on Boyds, what stock did you get?

the axis is a fine rifle straight out of the box, I really liked mine and my only complaint was with the stock, boyds stocks makes these a really great rifle.

I wouldn't hesitate one moment. Mine hasn't been bedded or anything just dropped in and accuracy is still very good just as it was in the plastic fantastic.
