Two iconic German guns from WWII---MG42 and MP44.

i need one of those bolt bounce thingys ...not that im shooting it anymore but just in case ....never had an issue but mine are ca not fa

I believe the 'bolt bouncy thingy' would be just as important in a CA as an FA gun...they are a safety gadget and are supposed to also reduce the rate of fire slightly...

Machine pistols?

Awesome thread guys! This is the kind of reading I like on here. Always been fascinated with MGs. It's really unfortunate that any collecting of them I'll ever do will be dewats. Love seeing the photos and reading the stories of what they were like to shoot though.

Beautiful MGs. Thought of what our soldiers must have felt facing them is absolutely terrifying.

I'd give a kidney to run a belt through one of them, or a few mags through a Bren.

A gunner named Severloh used the MG effectively on allied forces.

Anybody stopped by Uranus Gas on the way to the Grand Canyon from Vegas? They have all the German MP's and MG's on display in the lobby, first time I got to have a real good look at them. Not sure if any of them were available at the firing range next door, but they did have a Ma Deuce. Unfortunately, I took the bus and didn't have time to play... :(

quite the wide spread i have seen ...2500.00 - 4000.00...not to sure if the upper priced ever sell tho or why they are priced that high in the first place ..i dont think demand is that high..if so i might dewat mine ...

collectors guild also had a NASTY dewat MP44 sometime ago

it was $4200 and sold for that (I assume)

regardless-they come up with some nice stuff-even I bought a few things from there

Klunk,

I would not be surprised if many of these pieces come from Europe.

In 2005 I bought a well marked mag pouch for an MP40 from a fellow in Norway.
He was the one that first directed me to The Collector's Guild as he had sold stuff through them before.

I communicated with them some years ago regarding my dewat MP44-MG42 and MG34, just to get a sense of their fees.
They seem to have a market which is pretty widely spread...regarding purchasers.....and they seem to know the laws as to where they can send them.

It did not sound unreasonable ....as I recall.
You have to ship the stuff to them for examination and description...which I guess is reasonable.
I guess that the pieces are taken on consignment by them.

They seem to stand behind the stuff that they sell as being original....based on their description.

Back in 2005 my contact in Norway had a 'few' MP40 mag pouches.

My cost in June 2005 was $545 Cdn.

Richard Ehrhardt's code 'bdr' with WaA86 on an MP40 magazine pouch dated 1942.

I recently opened Hans-Deiter Handrich's book Sturmgewehr and learned a little more about this Steyr assembled MP44 that I have owned for a number of years.
It is serial numbered 1537F/44.
It has Steyr's late war code 'swj' with WaA623 and a late war stock.
It still has the earlier checkered magazine release button.
