Legal...non restricted.
I thought McCann was out of the MAS/AR lower conversions, with no plans to do more?

Mas 49/56

Jean Plamondon in Sherbrooke told me that some were imported unintentionally by the old International Firearms in Montreal. They came in a case of other MAS rifles from the Middle East - not ordered or expected. So there he knew of about a dozen from fifteen years ago. A fellow called Millcol on the forum here has a sniper version for sale for (yikes!) $2500.

As for the 7.62 conversions the Americans are talking about, don't get too impatient. The French 7.5 cartridge is fat in the wrong places, thin in the wrong places and too long overall for an easy chamber conversion to 7.62. The only way to make a safe rechambering would be to sleeve the chamber and use a 7.62 reamer on it. Many of the problems the McCann conversion corrects can be traced to quick and dirty conversion jobs by the US importers.

Some weenie at the CFC may decide the 49/56 is prohib' because the French did some full auto conversion experiments along the way.

Pls remove
