Just wanted to give everyone a heads up if you are anywhere near a Bass Pro.

Most places sell these for $159 - $199, so this is a pretty sweet deal, and owning one myself I can guarantee you that this is the single best deal in the firearms industry that exists today!!!

There is also plenty of upgrades like Tech Sights, DIP bottom metal/trigger guard & trigger, and Promag 25 round mags.

I just recently bought one, and have done the above upgrades, and I am amazed at what you get for the money with this gun. I just got back from the range and had only 1 FTF in 200 rounds, and there was a good hit on the primer so can't blame the gun.

I will post a separate thread with initial impressions, and pics later...

It's a good price, but I'd rather pay more elsewhere. As long as Bass Pro uses the ledger to record addresses etc, I won't be buying any guns there. I talked to the NFA about this, but they said they couldn't do anything about it. The ledger just floats around behind the counter for any employee to page through and make notes if they want.

Love my Marlin 795, and the wifey enjoys mine more than her .22... so logically I decided to get her one to keep her mitts off my nice SS one.

Ive got nothing bad to say about Marlin. Since I got the 795, I decided to try out other marlin guns and am very impressed. Now have an XL7 stainless I cant wait to try out, and my 30AS is a great looking gun and shoots great (just need to get a taller front sight for it since Im using a peep). Contemplating a 308XLR, but realistically I need to downsize and stick to just a few main calibers that will actually get used

how do you order firearms online?

how do you order firearms online?

I guess I trust the online sellers not to leave my information sitting on the counter where customers can look at it. Maybe it's only the Calgary store that is so lax. I've signed the ledger at other shops where the book is kept under the counter and I trust the staff. No issue. It's just Bass Pro that bugs me.

I hate my 795, I've owned it for about a month now and I get nothing but FTL. Can anyone point me to a trouble shooting guide or some tips?

Sorry dont mean to jack the thread. but search didnt come up with anything

i called ontario, none in stock, If someone is going in, they said they will issue a raincheck, to which I would love one, if anyone is in there, will pay the stamp etc of course or fax whatever..

FTL=failure to load? Mine runs like a top, but I have found that some mags fit allot tighter than others. I think if I was having a failure to load, I'd check the following;

1. clean the bore, inspect the chamber
2. inspect the feed ramp for burrs/rough spots
3. inspect the inside of the receiver, clean if required. Shortly after shooting mine for the first time, I noticed flaking paint on the inside of the receiver. I used a fine wire brush to remove as much as I could, then wiped the inside down with a lightly oiled rag
4. confirm that the magazine is fully seated~I've had 2 mags that had burrs on their sides that wouldn't allow them to seat easily. Filed off the burrs, problem solved.
5. if the failure to load is primarily with the first round of a full 10 round mag, try loading with 9 rounds and see if the issue persists
6. try a different ammo (I'd probably do this first)

Hope this helps. 795s are great guns, and yours WANTS to shoot. Let me/us know how you make out.

I'll be in at Bass Pro in Vaughan tomorrow - can swing by and see if they have any in stock, or if I can get a raincheck for you if you wish.

Shoot me a PM if you want

I posted a thread about it in the rimfire section
