So I give up I done everything and still will not throw out the right charge it was set for anyone know if I can send it back to dillion to see what they can do about it

well.......lets start with this.........

What case are you loading? What powder are you using? Are you getting powder in the case? if so how much powder in the case? is it always the same powder weight that gets dispensed? do you know how to adjust the powder thrower so that you get the amount you desire? Are you sure you should be reloading on a progressive or is it time to learn the basics on a single stage press??

I am sure with a tad more info from you we will all be able to guide you through this............

I'm loading 38spl powder is unique yes I know how to adjust the powder thrower so that you get the amount I want as for the amount of powder in getting it starts off with the right amount of gr I want, but after about 12 or so I start getting just a few gr to some time a double charge and everything in between

try taking the powder system apart and wipe all the parts down with a used fabric softener sheet. it will help reduce any issues from static electricity causing the powder to cling to the parts and not drop freely.

on a side note, i thought my grammar was bad.

check that the linkages are all moving freely, unique is a fairly flat powder and could likely benefit from using a powder baffle in the dispense to aid in more constant powder charges. HP-38 or W231 would be a better choice

the drop rod is in backwards"wrong side" or the lift bar is jammed up?, im thinking its put together wrong, looks ident to my 650 and had problems when i first set it up, re read instructions to make sure correct assembly
ps" if brand new sometimes will have huge static charge out of stirofoam box run bunch powder thru or rub with dryer sheet?

what spawn said.. im too slow.

or snap a picture, close up of the opp rods and we can tell at a glance if its right.........

I didn't ask for help with my grammar:ang3 but thanks for the help

I know the frustration..........I used to just beat stuff to death with a hammer then reassess the situation......I am slowly getting better at standing back and cooling down.....diagnosing with a clear mind and empty hands........

I had the same issue with my powder measure. With Unique powder it tends to bridge over the cavity in the powder bar when throwing a small charge weight. ( 3 gr or so if I remember correctly.) I purchased the extra small powder bar to resolve the problem. Now I can throw down to about 2.5 gr with no issues. Parts came from MD Gartner or P and D can't remember which. The powder bar has a different shape to the cavity to correct this issue.

Good to know........well just incase unique is the only powder available for a while.........

never had any similar problems with any of my 550-650 measures with a multitude of different powders,7625,titegroup,4227,trailboss,4759,4895. I use small measure slides for small charges and medium slides for rifle charges.

If, as you stated, you are getting some "double charge" sized charges, you have to be double-pumping the handle somewhere in the stroke. Mechanically impossible to get a double charge from a Dillon measure without a double pump.

For the light charges, static might be the problem but I doubt it. If your still getting irregular charges after a wipe down, watch the little square plastic thingy that operates the measure slide in the measure frame, if that doesn't travel the full distance in its track on each stroke then it needs adjusting ( the wing nut on the end of the operating rod). If it is traveling the correct distance then try adjusting your stroke speed to give the measure enough time to fill with powder.

The first commandment with any press that dispenses powder in its operation...one full, smooth stroke up...followed by one smooth full stroke down...every time. Not suggesting the op is not doing this, but if someone starting up with a new press can use the tip...

Polish the charge bar faces then put a second charge bar return spring on to assure the charge bar returns to its original postion each time you cycle the loading lever.
