By the time you buy a rail for 50 and an optic for 350 you may as well buy one. Plus you wont be 5 inchs over the carry handle

The word "proprietary" in my opinion is a bit misleading. More accurately, "non NATO". As in, it's Chinese. Do they publish standards? Do they have multiple vendors? I have no idea. But it seems likely that it's a standard within the Chinese military, though, I don't have any reason to know that for sure. Maybe they are the only military in the world with no standards? Doubt that...
