Personally I think anyone who lives in Canada - "The GREAT White North" - and doesn't have a .375H&H is delusional .... and exposing himself and his loved ones to great personal risk!! I am in the GTA and can assure you that the threat of a stray polar bear wandering down my street is VERY real. They are fast, savage and big buggers!! That is reason enough for me - and any sane person - to add a .375H&H to their home arsenal!!
I'm in a scary place and it is a foreign feeling to me...but right now I have no desire to buy a gun in a different chambering that I do not own. Ever since I have owned guns, which admittedly is not near as long as some on this forum, I have always looked to the next gun before the current one even arrived. But after owning and selling a great deal of guns that I wasn't satisfied for one reason or another I have settled into 4 cartridges that I'm actually happy with. My HUNTING rifles now consist of 223, 6mm Rem, 270 and 300 win mag...And I finally believe that suits my needs. It's such a strange feeling, I always thought that this void in me would be fulfilled when I filled my needs, but now I am left with this confused feeling of not knowing what I should do next. I guess this is the perfect time to get my restricted licence, cause it wouldn't make any sense if my money actually made it to my savings account instead of being spent on guns...Anyone ever reach this place and have this kind of crisis?
Now I of course I can always change the exact firearms that I have in these chamberings, but even those I'm pretty happy with. And I could upgrade all my scopes, but again I'm pretty happy with them too...And there is that thought in the back of my mind that although a 300 win mag will handle anything I will EVER hunt, it would be nice to have a safari rifle in something no smaller than a 375 H&H, but that's not really a nagging priority for me, just a last case scenario if I can't find anything else to spend my money on. i wonder if there's a support group I can go to...
I'm down to .243, .308 (x2), .30-06
I'm often tempted to acquire a 6.5mmx55, or a .25-06 ... but, with a .243 and .308, do I really need an 'in-betweener' ?
Speaking about inbetweeners ..
Wish I still had one of the 7mm-08's that I sold. *sigh*There is just something about 7mm's
You have a number of problems that need to be addressed...
First and foremost... Why on this "green spinning ball," woulld you post on CGN that you are "satisfied" with your current battery??? What do you think is going to happen here... Give this thread another couple days and you will be working on two or three new projects!
Second, you didn't mention rimfire??? Was that an oversight, or are you just not dealing with them in this particular thread???
Third, you didn't mention shotguns... Or have you started a similar thread in the shotgun forum???
Fourth, you haven't said anything about your appocalypse weapon... Or is your .223 configured for Ruskies and/or Zombies?
Fifth, ignore your internal voice and those of the Fudd's that creep in the dark thickets of CGN... You DON'T need a .375 H&H... At least until you have taken care of some other business...
Sixth, you don't have your RPAL??? What up with that???
Seventh, what do you mean your current platforms don't "need" tweaking, er, eh, uh... Does NOT compute!!!
Eigth, weeeelll... Let's mull that over for now...
sorry...
I am sort of in the same boat, but its a bigger boat.
