What's the deal with threaded barrels?

Its just a tease...........so you don't forget that suppressors are illegal since the only thing you can screw on there is a fake suppressor :(

Some models come in a 4" standard barrel length from the makers.
To make them rest. in Canada, a quarter inch is added.
This little nub sticking out past the slide, looks less ridiculous(to some), if threaded and sometimes capped.
And fake silencers look cool, to the same people.
My opinion, anyways.

So… Suppressors are illegal in Canada, right? So what's the big draw for a threaded barrel?
I don't get it…

Threaded barrels are not illegal in Canada.
You can also use a detachable compensator which is also not illegal.

Also some guns are imported into Canada in stock form with a treaded barrel because in other parts of the world freedoms are not as limited as in Canada.

compensator's are fun little add on's once you get into them.
they are only limited by your imagination and money.

they are like pin stripe's on your car, decoration.
or.... those little tassley dingly balls you can put on the inside of your car if you are so inclined.

visual aid?

i think so.

Most of the centerfire stuff is intended for suppressors, or just the tacticool look. On rimfire guns they're a touch more usefull in that you can use comps, barrel weights, fake can's, and such. Comps have almost totally replaced Pin Gun weights as a muzzle attachment, but some people still like them. Just be glad you don't live in Californistan, they're prohib there.

I agree...that extra 1/4" sticking out the front of the slide has turned me off from buying some HG's. With the extension threaded it looks purposeful rather than an afterthought. Since my HG's are just for punching paper...."looks" are important too.

Not to derail this thread, but why do you feel that you need a comp on a rimfire? Or a barrel weight? I've never had trouble controlling a .22.

same reason I have mags on my car.

And it balances my GSG out to be more similar to my 38 super for practice drills.
