I'm pretty impressed by the quality of this part. In person the rifle has a whole new feel and it looks totally factory. The install went pretty well, but I had to read the instructions about 3 times. The rifle feels even more compact and maneuverable now. I previously had a carry-handle mounted optic with a custom cheek riser and the difference is drastic.

Charging the gun initially is a little tough. I expect this to break in.

Not a cheap part, but I'm happy to support a Canadian company. I'm sure the upcoming lower will be cool as well, but for me, this satisfies my needs - namely the height over bore issue. Looking forward to hitting the range soon.

This first pre-order was $300. I think retail is $330.
Came with a signed letter thanking the buyer for their support - kind of a nice touch.

Were you a little apprehensive about sawing off chunks of your new rifle?
 
After buying 2 new rifles for X-mas I have been fighting the urge (and the potential wrath of my wife) to buy a T97, after seeing it with the FTU I think it's a losing battle.

On a side note, I have a Blackfeather RS stock on my M-14 so I know their stuff is top quality.

Not really, a leap of faith I guess. I knew that if there were a problem I'd get support. I read the instructions a bunch of times and studied the pics carefully :) I like tinkering with crap - my Dremel gets a lot of use.

Really not a fan of the irons, I found it hard to get a good sight picture. I remember you drawing a little diagram trying to explain how wacky the trajectory was with the optic I had mounted waaaay up there. so this should improve hold-over and close range, etc.

Sighting with a red dot is a snap compared to breaking out the SKS-style tool for the windage.

Not sure if I'll be out this weekend but I will report back when I shoot it.

It's just a bit stiff after the initial install. Takes a good pull to charge the gun. It has already broken in a bit after a dozen or so pulls on it. I prefer this to it being too loose.
 
I would own that....the original configuration kind of sucks with ####ty irons and impracticle optics mounting. If you get the gun from accuracy plus for $850 + this flat top, you are into it for not much more then most people paid from other dealers and you get a much more functional rifle.
