Hey all. I recently inherited what I was told was an sks but when I picked it up.. It definitely wasn't.

I have no knowledge on any of the mil surp stuff ...
Was hoping someone could give me a clue or info !

Thank you very much in advance!

7.62x39?......I thought they used the 7.62x45 round?

It is more than likely the 52/57 and uses 7.62X39. The initial VZ 52 used the 7.62X45. The mag. is definately the 52/57 as it doesn't have the ramp on the bottom front. I have a minty one too and have yet to shoot it but I love the feel of them!

A straight up 52 does use x45. A 52/57 is a 7.62x39 eater, and a fine example of one too!

I don't wanna get all "geopolitical" or anything, but seriously...Czech guns are never to be overlooked, and an exemplary example is to be found here. Think you need a bayo? Got one. Think you need a "common" ammo? Got one.

1440rds yellow-box Norinco ammo(not match ammo, it was cheap n' non-corrosive) with a gem like yours? You have something nifty goin' on there.

I wouldn't trust and chinese ammo with being non-corrosive. My father had a bunch of "china north indistries non corrosive .223" Rusted the hell out of his mini-14 in 4 days flat

I don't want to go all crazy with the Chinese this and that stuff, but it wouldn't hurt to test it first. Pull the bullet, put the casing over a nail (non galvanized!) in a board, and smack the primer. Put another nail in the board beside it to compare. Leave for 4 days, and report back.
