What do I have here??

Rest easy with your ammo too. Norinco "yellow box" is non corrosive. I got a few hundred rounds that came with my Rashid.

You have a Rashid WOW you are one lucky guy. I sold a CZ 52/57 15 years ago for 160 bucks . Kick my self in the ass. I just picked up another one. Paid a lot more than what i sold that one for. If you have a Rashid I would sleep with it under my pillow. They are very rare.

mine had to go 4 yrs ago to fuel Santa's sleigh
Only about 8,000 of these rifles were ever made and they are rare. That is if it's a Rashid. Keep it!!

Even fewer made it here. The rifle OP posted about is a Czech gem, and certainly worth attention!

Gas system is taken from Gew 41.

Locking is by a tilting-bolt system like the FAL..... except that it locks at the FRONT.

Beautifully made, technically very interesting. Absolute murder to glass-bed, but it can be done. (I have done it.)

Cash value? About SKS x 3.

Inheritance? Somebody liked you... a lot.

Treasure it.

With a chromed bore I wouldn't worry too much about the corrosive ammo issue. If it ate guns for dinner would nations have issued it to their conscript soldiers?

You just have to clean well after firing and not leave your rifles sitting for months without checking them.

People who can't do that should collect stamps or hockey cards, not guns.

And what about the unchromed gas system that will quickly seize up and render the gun useless?

Yes, given that:

A) corrosive primers are far more stable and reliable under a wider range of temperatures and have a longer shelf life; and
B) if you didn't religiously clean your rifle as a conscript soldier you went to the gulag or were simply executed on the spot, whatever the kommisar felt was convenient.

On this we agree.

You mean if you don't clean it?

I suspect it's not quite as dramatic as that: this ammo has to be used on the battlefield where cleaning conditions can be primitive and occasional and there is often plenty of moisture.

Dirty rifles don't get you a trip to the Gulag, but they would probably get you a punch or two and a week carrying honey buckets etc. Maybe a lot of punches if your comrades lost their weekend passes as a result!

On this we agree.

I thought we would!;)

Just got home from the local range!!! Rifle shoots amazing!
I'm by no means an expert marksman or anything I just like shooting and tinkering around.

This gun was dead accurate up to 200yds (as far as my range goes) and it was a blast. Put 120 down range :D

I didn't realize I had a plastic bag that came with the rifle. Had 3 more mags in it for a total of 4!

Can't wipe this smile off!

I have one to. They are a nice gun. Mags are hard to find. Make sure they are pinned to 5 rounds. Congrats. The 52[57 are keepers. Don't see too many of these and they go for a high price,

I saw a new one not so long ago - I think it sold for about $650, but it was still in the wrap. Regardless, a very nice rifle - more or less an SKS, only designed for a soldier.

The SKS was designed for soldiers, and it is a good rifle of its sort. I don't think one needs to slight it to say that VZ is better.
