The future of the Battle Rifle forum

Funny guys, really though,....... again it's not because there's nothing for us to shoot already as Battle Rifles other than Norks, with the FAL and the G3 on prohib, there are still a few options,..but it's merely based on economics for the less endowed of the firearms communities. 5440's comment on the really low price for us regarding the Nork probably is smack on, and unless the the G3 and FAL are un- prohibited, and a new shipment of hard used surplus finds it's way here, $2699.00CDN for the FAMAE and the Springfield M1a, just may be the entry level offerings into the Battle Rifle club in the future, unless some Nork owner throws his old shot out M14s on the EE for 1100 LOL....Laugh2

Hungry was right, don't buy one.......BUY TWO!!!!

I think he was wrong in saying only two. He should have said, "take out a second mortagage and fill your basement with them".

There's enough of them that they'll be the backbone of the "Battle Rifle" community for a long time to come. Most don't even get shot that much due to the cost of operation.

If new Chinese guns come in at $700, then the used price will rise to $500-550 for a plain gun, IMO. In overall terms these are still okay prices when compared to the other new options. We've just been spoiled by the $400-450 new price for the last 10 years.

I think you meant $675.

Yeah, we've been spoiled, in a manner our cousins to the south probably envy, but I like being spoiled, and have no intention of changing. Now I am waiting for the the deal of the century on a Famae big boy, though the poor guy that has been hunting for spare mags on the EE for 8 months has me concerned about part availability, something that never is a real risk with the M-14/M1a/M305 platform.

Somebody help this poor bugger!:http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php/923949-Need-two-Famae-SAF-5-30-mags!

The Famae shows promise. Pricey, but tasty.

Actually, I meant $700-800.

The FAMAEs are much too pricey to fill the role of the M14 in the Canadian market.

Agreed, but purdy. They look like forbidden fruit.
I don't think their will be a shortage of M305's any time soon. A lot of people bought them on hype, then put it in the closet when it didn't produce sub moa groups. I'd wager they will bubble up in the EE for years yet. I plan on snapping up a clean little tested shorty when they do...

For clarity. I am the curious poster that the OP was talking about. I made the post in the kaboom thread. I want really trying to make any tongue in cheek comments. I really do want know how that guys warranty replacement worked out for him. I am really considering an m305 myself and really wanted to know. I'll be one of the guys sponging up all the info in the future. I've never owned a gas gun, I need the help.

Doesn't Springfield get their receivers made in Quebec? If so, it would be nice if a Canadian company would put that use and pump out nice, domestic m14's

Yep, the Famae looks great, but I can't afford that kind of coin for one gun.

Haha someone makes a post about the future of the community and we're arguing on the first page

Arguing? What the heck are you talking about? Some light jabs back and forth between gentlemen, with the occasional blasphemy and questioning of ###ual orientation (Not that there's anything wrong with either) , nothing to see here. Lol. As long as we don't alienate the fudds- I mean traditionalists, we will have a thriving community. Talking without disagreement is group grooming events.

Bang on. So many of them out there - would be interesting to know just how many... On a range day I will see 3 out of the.. 40 people there? At that price point, they are priced to move, and as you said, many just jumped on it - why not.

Bro, you have to shoot with 40 other people at the range? Wow. Just wow. "Baby Jesus, all I want for Christmas, is a few ranges for the downtrodden folks of Ontario, for their cup is empty, while mine floweth over..."

I've been wondering the same things as the op for a little while too. Don't know the answer either.
I started off with a bit of malaise about the missing M14 members who were frequent users when I signed up - Satain, M14doc, Hungry. Banned, missing or otherwise occupied. Maybe it's just that my rifle shoots good now, so I'm past the same old noob threads?
Those who think the Famae will bring something new to this forum are off the mark too. That's Black Rifle fodder, just like the T97 seems to have become

They are a $400 rifle until quality improves enough to justify a higher price. If the 50% price hike is solely due to new receivers, and none of the current QC issues are addressed then I really have doubts how fast these will fly off the shelf....

I am not sure I have seen many posts where the receiver was blamed... So, does the 50% price hike mean that QC issues will now include out of spec receivers as well??

Satain is on the "other" forum, M14Doc is 45ACPKING and still posts when he isn't out hunting or fishing, and Hungry is now Tactical Teacher, and also continues to post.
