Have a buddy that has come across a few milsurps from his older inlaws, he is strictly a hunter and has no desire to keep these.
I am looking at perhaps purchasing these from him but I don't know much about them. Any help with identifying further and approximating values would be appreciated.

First is a Japanese Arisaka w/ bayonet and sling. has cover plate over the action, stock is cracked but salvageable:

2nd is Austrian Empire Gun, marked 1886 C.E.W.F.G STEYR, includes bayonet, scabbard and cleaning rod.

3rd is a French Labele marked 1915 - P'Etienne Mle 1907, includes bayonet, scabbard, sling but missing the magazine

1) Arisaka M38, Thailand issue piece sold to them by Japan before 1945. Would need way better photos to determine any value.

2) Portuguese Kropatschek. At best, worth $500 or so if it's in mint condition. These don;t sell very well, despite being nice guns. Not sure why.

3) M1907-15 Berthier rifle, French WW1 issue. Would need much better photos of all markings and a bore description to determine value. It doesn't take mags, it takes en-blocks. Value in the $250-500 range depending on a lot of factors.

Thanks for the quick replies, I realize bore condition etc are major factors in evaluating. Unfortunately for now these are the pics I have to work with as he lives quite a distance from me and is not "web savvy" to send me more. A range of value is exactly what I was hoping for. Cheers

Nice find! P&S has 1886 Steyr built rifles going for $350-$425 (Portugeuse contract). That's without the bayonet though. I think he was asking considerably more for the last Lebels he had in stock earlier this year, $600 rings a bell, though I can't say for certain. As for the Arisaka I'm not too certain, I haven't been pining for one of those yet. Definitely a great score if you can get it!

*Prices dependant on condition of course.

#1 with cracked stock, Lee Enfield sling and VG or better bore $200 add $50 for the bayonet

#2 it has a Lee Enfield sling which is worth $10. The bayonet is worth $100+. The rifle, looks pretty decent. Usually they are beat to hell and have less than 50% finish left. Yours was intended for Portuguese home service. If it had wooden upper hand guards, it would be for colonial service. Now, here's the biggie, does it have matching serial numbers???

If it has matching serial numbers on all marked pieces, and a VG - Exc bore, it would easily bring $500+. If the bayo has a matching number to the rifle, double the value if it goes with the rifle.

#3, again Lee Enfield sling, If it has a VG or better bore, no cracks in stock, $300. The bayonet is worth $75+

All of our evaluations are pretty close. Our prices aren't lo balls and they are fair.

$600 is about right for a beater Lebel, but that's a Berthier, not a Lebel. Not worth nearly as much.

Is the Arisaka stock cracked, or are you referring to the factory joint in the butt?

According to his description there is a crack in the buttstock. Again, based on the limited pictures I have to work with I will have to go with this, although when I enlarge the pictures he supplied the only thing I can see seems to be a factory joint.
