There seems to be a fair number of posts on the JR carbine but not a lot on the Thureon. Are they worth the extra cash or just buy the newer JRs and more ammo :D ? I would be looking at 9mm and I reload (not that it matters!) TC

I have a 9mm GA version of the TD and I love it. I was able to examine the JR and the TD side by side and the little extra cash was well worth it. You can field strip the TD in seconds, without tools(no stripped screws like the JR, the TD is lighter and better balanced and just better built IMHO. I put a TRS25 on it, got a bunch of Glock mags and having a ball with MY TD.

It's not Good, it's awesome:

I have a GA model in 9mm. I like it but it doesn't nearly get enough use and when I lent it to a friend :)rolleyes:) he left it in behind the seat of his truck for a month. When I got it back, the bolt, trigger, and safety switch were all nice and rusty. It still works great after cleaning it up but I still wasn't very impressed. I think a little chrome pealed off the bolt face as well. The gun itself has a great finish on it but these parts are not treated the same way.

Long story short: Cool gun. Worth the cash if you think you'll actually use it. I don't, so for me, it wasn't a great buy in the end. I'll probably get rid of it at some point.

I've had a JR in .40 cal, I now have a TD in .40 cal

The ease do stripping is worth the extra

Both shoot/shot well.

I had my TD up the range today running with Back Up Sights and drove a chunk of wood up the range from 75 feet to 120 feet in 10 shots on BUS, awesome. They absolute co witness with my Vortex Strikefire, great combination

TD have great customer service as well

I have Thureon in 9, but no experience with the JR. Decent rifle, firing pin broke in less than 100 rounds, Thureon mailed out 2 replacements right away and it's been fine since.

Very easy to field strip, fun to shoot. I run a Vortex Sparc.

Can't install a loaded mag on a closed bolt though. So you have to install a mag with the bolt locked open.

With mine I find that if you ride the bolt handle 'at all' it won't go into battery.

Doesn't happen to me so much, but if I give the gun to a new shooter it happens all the time.

It would be a hundred times better if the bolt held open after the last round, but it is what it is.

Does anyone know if the 40 cal glock mags will run in the 9mm with extra capacity? I haven't tried it.

My td 9mm loads a full mag fine on a closed bolt.

I think Hickock 45 on youtube does a review on the thureon where he shows the mag can go in too far if you insert it with the bolt open , which causes a problem. It should seat closed or the mag may be pinned wrong

If anyone has a 10mm TD, I am interested in an accuracy report at 100yds.

I'm thinking of changing the buttstock on my TDC. Anyone know if it's Mil-Spec or Commercial? Can't find the info from a search. A little confused to why there's 2 different sizes.

My JRC is Commercial, while my S&W M&P is Mil-Spec from what I've been reading. Haven't swapped any black rifle furniture so I don't want to buy the wrong stuff.

Pull your stock off and check which one you have.

If yours is the UTG buffer tube (stamped on the butt) it should be mil-spec, as mine is.
