LEGAL 10 round SKS with detachable mag...accomplished!..

so can OP release a dimensioned drawing so we can start making these at home since they dont want to pursue this commercially

+1. I would happily buy a set of plans and make my own.

I haven't read through this thread, not sure if it is mentioned, there is a fellow on www.sksboards.com working on an magwell adapter that let's you use an AR mag. I think he's had several versions and the G9 is the refined one supposedly ready Jan/Feb 2014. If you google ' sksboards markus g9 ' you'll find some info.

Cool. It's a damned shame they aren't going to be able to ship them north when they become available.

Any cf mag that holds more than 5 is prohibited all by itself and no internet video is going to change that. Unless you have approval from the RCMP, you're wasting your time and money.

Purely hypothetical, say I remove a rivet from a center fire magazine. Who is more likely to report me to the rcmp? A non gun owning person, or another gun owner? Judging by the responses in this thread and others like it, it really proves that we are our own worst enemy.

To make matters worse, this thread isn't anywhere near about removing a rivet. It's about doing something specifically permitted by the rcmp, on their own website, in one of their own bulletins.

I'm going to my gun room to have a look at my legal xcr 7.62 pistol magazine. Does anybody else have trouble getting the 10th round in comfortably? Mine nearly has to be stepped on.

I thought I read they will ship the magwell kit, but no mags to Canadians.

I can't say I read it too closely, but they can't ship any "gun parts" without an export license. If they can somehow have the kit designated as not a "gun part" then I expect they are good to go.

I disassembled the mag and ground the follower legs down a bit to give some wiggle room for that 10th round so the mag can be seated on a closed bolt. As long as it only holds 10.9 rounds or less you are good to go, it doesn't have to be super tight on the 10th round to be legal.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was the spring piling up or if the follower legs were bottoming out.

Not true my friend. There is no mag cap limit on pump or bolt action CF long guns and a pistol mag can hold 10 rounds and I believe lots of pistols are CF. In theory I could put a 100 round drum mag on my Tikka 30-06 if someone made one specifically for a tikka BOLT ACTION, but then youd have the issue of trying to lug around 100 30-06 rounds attached to your rifle.

Also no law saying you can't use a pistol mag in a long gun as long as the MAG is not altered. I believe you can alter the firearm all you want to fit the mag.

Or were you just kidding?

Sometimes I feel like I'm reading the same/different threads all over again like Groundhog Day...... My ten round 762 mags are tight like tiger as well most times I like it tight but sometimes you want it loose like when things get dirty

So....i can just see you there, rolling your eyes and cracking your knuckles ready to chew out a newbie for ONCE AGAIN asking the same damn thing....

well, not exactly....

watch the video....and wipe the drool...

i know another gentleman has grafted an XCR-L mag to an SKS. Saw the video, but that was not removable. As far as i could see all he could do was use the stripper clips to feed the mag. To me, thats kinda a grey area. If a mag is not removable then its no longer an XCR-L mag but a permanent attachment to the firearm.

anywho, comments are welcome....and i'm sure i'll be called a "bubba" a few times....:stirthepot2:

RANGE REPORT!!

works great!

As a person sort of new to the gun laws its just so insane what lengths we/ people will go to, just to have 10 round mags... And people think we live in a free country, pshh.(not new to shooting guns, i knew SOME of the laws but not until i got older and actually got more into guns and got my pal)

We live in a dream of a free country, we're all delusional. Much of the world is obviously far worse than we are but that does not mean we are not all headed in the wrong directions.

I see that argument used more than any other but they never stop to think that its all relative.

In the end things are not going well globally freedom, privacy and self reliance wise for anyone.

Wont work for us

Not that he talks about it, but the magazine has been modified, if you look at the mag at 9S you will see that the back of the mag is modified, and the front lip has been filed much lower. This is done so you dont have to mill the receiver. In Canada, that is considered manufacturing a magazine and it goes right back to being pinned to 5.

There is no way to run a STANAG mag without receiver milling. STANAG magazines are currently the only ones available in pistol size.

7.62 pistol mags possibilities. another version from another manufacturer
