Brand new STI Spartan from IRG. As soon as I took it out of the box it was literally dripping with oil, immediately I noticed the front fiber optic sight was cloudy, initially I thought it was just grease on the filament, but no it looks like the oil ate away at it.

NOTE: The slide is chalky white because it was just sprayed down with brake cleen, there is nothing wrong with the finish of the pistol.

So after totally disassembling the pistol the last thing I had to do was disassemble the rear sight and this is what I found...

So needless to say I am not very happy at the moment, the gun is fine but the sights are ####ed. Looks like they are LPA sights.

I'll be contacting people tomorrow to see what to do about this. And obviously this will be the last STI product I ever buy again.

That is unfortunate, I know how frustrating things like that can be.

I am not surprised though, I had serious mechanical problems with two brand new STI pistols I purchased in the past. I purchased them based on rave reviews on the internet, so much for that.

I no longer have either pistol and will never buy an STI again.

Please let is know how irunguns handles this.
I have comsidered STI in the past but I just can't get past how they mark the slides.

Brake clean on fiber optic sights is bad. Easy fix though. Buy an kit for bow elevation sights and melt a new one in.
Rust on a STI, Oh I see it is not from the canadian distributor. Keep us posted on how it works out.

I've been using non-chlorinated brake cleaner from CT on my Shadow for going on 3 years. Never had a problem with the FO sight. Seems the sight was decayed before hand (from the pic)

I get a kick out of all the "I'll never buy another x again" comments. While in many cases it may be true, but realistically every company has botched products for sale. Everyone whines about overpriced blah blah because QC is not readilly apparent when comparison shopping. Then when they do get a lemon because they don't want to pay 15 pct more for a QC version, they make "never buy again" threats.

Judge a company and their products by their ability to make thing right one you've alerted them to a fault.

FO sight was like that before I cleaned it, non-chlorinated brake clean won't damage them, only chlorinated brake clean will.

Waiting to hear back from IRG.

Does anyone know who handle warranty work for STI in Canada??
