Hi all,

I just recently purchased a Schmitt Rubin 96/11 which is on its way. I was wondering if anyone knows of any suppliers who have the cardboard chargers or if anyone knows of a stripper clip (charger) that would fit in the charger guide on one (eg. maybe K98 or 7.62 Nato ones?). I was looking around and it seems the chargers are fairly hard to find in Canada. I don't really want to use Ebay as there is no guarantee that whoever had the chargers last didn't use them until they were pretty much done. I also hate hand bombing mags when I can just use a charger and be done in a second or two.

I know there are some Swiss rifle fanatics kicking around here (I might just become one after it arrives). Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome to the club. Your gonna love it.
I too am looking for those chargers. Finally gave up a lil-bit-ago and just purchased some more magazines from CSC (But I think they are out of stock on those now too)
If they pop up. Buy a couple extra. (Buy me a few too if you have a chance:) )

Added note on the magazines. Was using that rifle for service rifle shoots. and changing those mags out when it is freezing SUCKS. Need thin gloves for the dex but found the serrations on the mag release would chew up your finger and thumb. If anyone has a trick for that let me know.

Problem is shipping adds quite a bit to charger cost just to get them into Canada.
Would be at least $10-11.00 each. Canada dollar is taking a nose dive too.

Calgary Shooting Center had them at a good price but sold out.
If someone is serious, let me know.

I'm in for a few, for a reasonable price.

thx.

Russian ones for the 7.62x54R work in a pinch. When I buy some there are always some that are too tight - those ones I use for the 7.5x55.

They aren't perfect - if you slap them around or carry them loose you'll lose cases and, of course, they just hold 5, but they work for charging the mag in the rifle.

Last summer I bought a large parts lot that contained 4 weird cardboard chargers. Turns out they are for a K31, I guess I was just lucky as I've heard many times that they are pretty hard to find!!:)

First ones I ever received 12 years ago were free with an order. Tons of them available over there at that time.
That was before Swiss Rifles were easily available on the surplus market in the States.
Now much harder to find, unless you lucky to go to the big arms shows in Switzerland.

Just use the Mosin ones like was mentioned above, they work but you may need to squeeze them together a bit if the 7.5x55mm rounds are loose.
