Hi, let's start with a bit of backup story to this revolver.
15 years ago, someone in the familly, had permission to buy this revolver even if he did not attend a gun club, it was asked as personnal protection in the woods.
These woods are close to his home in a populated area, far from up north, things have changed eh?

I have never heard of the company Astra. Even tough it does look nice and does look like a S&W replica, i beleive he is asking too much. It is immaculate, and praticly unshot. Himself has had less than a 100 rounds in it in the last 15 years. Picture quality is crappy as it'S him that took it, i was wondering what would be let's say a blue book value on this item? Condition VG. Caliber .357, i do not have the model # with me unfortunatly, but maybe by looks it could be determined.

One of the site sponsors (SFRC) has seemingly the exact same one up for sale. [link]

As for price, I am not an expert on them but the one from SFRC looks to be in similar condition and is priced at 524.99 and it hasn't sold in 4 months.

All that aside, I always kind of wondered what the quality of the Astra revolvers were like..

its worth 200 dollars at most, current price on astras, bryan.

They are good quality guns but parts may be difficult to find. Restricted class. $300 - 350 in EX condition.

If you place the value in between the two estimates, you will have a good starting point.

SFRC is completely off with his asking price. you can get a very nice S&W for what he is asking for a used Astra. f:P:

Thank you very much CGN, i tought of asking 400$ at first since seller was going for 500$.
I won't even bother making an offer, since trying it out @ 280$/300$ i will look like a lowballer, and lowballers are often frowned upon.
I will simply reply that i do not want a wheel gun at the moment.
Thanks again!

Edit : funny thing right after posting this i saw sfrc's ad. I almost fell for it thinking the Astra i had a chance for was really worth 500$.

I don't think you'd be LOWBALLING the seller, it would be more like he is "HIGHBALLING" you with an unreasonable asking price. Offer what it is worth, and then at least you'd know. Offer the $300, then when no one else bites on his $500 asking price, he may come back to you.

I already own a six inch 686-3 SS, im always on the lookout when family members or people i know, sell firearms.
Most of them have not got the slightest idead what CGN is, and great deals are to be had "sometimes" ;)
It would of just been a loaner gun when i have guests at the range, or even if it would of been cheap i could of flipped it and put it back for sale, but not with what i just learnt.

The model is 357. I own one with an 8" barrel. It's a fine copy of the Model 27. It has an innovative adjustable mainspring that you can tune to your ammo. I wouldn't pay more than $400 for a pristine example. Mine was never fired. So if it's been shot, I'd offer $300. I find it an interesting piece, really. Quality is no worse than S&W or Ruger. But then, parts are available for Smiths and Rugers. I don't shoot mine enough to worry about it, so it doesn't bother me. If the seller wants $500, he'll be waiting a long time though.

Astra was an old Spanish company. Long gone, now. Among others(Small and cheap pistols. Also copies of other brands.), they made low end copies of Smith revolvers that are not worth $400 never mind $500. $200 is light though. More like $300 to $350. Parts shouldn't be an issue as they are exact copies of Smiths.

I think you're being a bit rough on Astra. They're not as bad as you make them out to be. Sure, they're not S&W quality, but they're quite strong and shoot well. This one is largely a S&W Model 27, but the internals aren't precisely the same. Close enough for jazz though.

I ended up just politely passing by without making my low offer. People can get offended when their item is worth less than they really wish.
Sure at 350$ i would buy this astra and give it some attention, it would of made a good specimen to experiment a trigger job.
At 500$ i am passing and will buy some things off my 2014 must buy list.

BTW the semi auto Astra's have always been considered high quality. In fact the old Colt junior was made by Astra.
I've got a 4000 Falcon that is a very nicely made piece and hard to find. Real retro! The only issue of course is finding parts should you
need them. Much has been said regarding the steel quality of Spanish guns. Astra was generally considered the best of the lot. As far as
the revolvers go I have only read what is on the other forums and most of it is positive.
