Archangel rem 700 sneak peek!

Any idea about this problem that some people seem to be having?
Receiver gap at the front and back, seems to be rocking near the recoil lug (but not the recoil lug)

Have read a couple other forums with people having this issue, waiting on promag...

So these kits will convert any Short Action 700 into a magazine fed rifle? I have an SPS Varmint in .204 Ruger and would love to be able to have a detachable box magazine!

yes they are pretty amazing, but I believe I have a dud...

there arent many reviews but ive talked to a few people and they are very happy with the accuracy results, not so much the bipod for field users but for bench shooters it perfect.
Also the magazine is great.

it works with m1/ m14 mags

just called promag, it is simply the freefloat barrel...much like a chassi system.

extra cool and my concern has been addressed, go promag!

I would highly recommend buying these stocks from here. also the price is A+!

Ok, they've talked about this to death on the previous page, so let me get this straight.

These kits come with a 10 rnd mag that fits only the Archangel 700 stock kit, and NOT the M14, however you are saying that this kit works with M1/M14 magazines?
If that is so, let me make sure this is clear:

1. It is illegal to modify the 10-rnd Archangel mag to fit the M14
2. It is illegal to modify an M14 mag, by unpinning a 20 rounder, for use in the Archangel stock kit
3. It may or may not be legal to modify a Norinco M14 (as some have suggested, but I would never try) feed ramp so it takes the 10-rnd or 20-rnd Archangel mag?

Are the 20 round magazines going to come available for this conversion kit I see on the Promag sight? I would love to get my hands on them, twenty rounds from a bipod with that .204 would be sweet for coyotes. Seems a lot of people are saying these rifles are shooting really well,

not sure about the legalities m8, but I can guarantee you that m1/14 mags work in this stock.

they designed it in such a way.

However promag archangel aa700 mag in the m1/14 no idea...

Would have been awesome if Promag designed a 700 chassis, then manufactured a 20rnd mag specifically for the chassis, but it was 100% interchangable with the M14. Oh well, dreams.

These mags will NOT fit into an M14 without doing modifications. They would then be modified & prohibited. The mags are only for this bolt action stock kit, the feed lips are single feed & different from the M14.

you can mod any gun to take any mag you want. the mag cannot be modifed from its original design as a semi auto rifle, semi auto pistol or other. if you do mod the mag it cannot get more capacity only less IE pistol mag modded to rifle is only rifle capacity.

I like it except for the integral bipod. It's a weak point in the design and probably increases production costs. They should kill it and put two studs up front.

Any mag options for WSM cartridges? As I understand it there are no other mags on the market that will fit this chassis right?

It's kind of strange that they would go the route of an integrated bipod. Costs more to make, takes away from user's preferences...not very practical unless it's an awesome bipod.

I bought this stock and am generally happy with it. For the price it's actually very good. I wanted a tactical stock that I could adjust for length of pull and an adjustable comb as well as a 10 round magazine capability. I got this in the Archangel stock conversion at about half the cost or less compared to going to an AICS stock or TAC21. I did a quick accuracy comparison test between my original HS Precision stock and the Archangel stock last Fall. I could not detect any difference between them. They both give me about 0.75MOA from my Remington 700VS in .308Win. This test was done from a bench and I'm hoping that the better fit of the Archangel stock will work better for me in precision matches, which are shot prone and require long periods of staying in the aim (think agony snaps).

I also have the problem that the gap around my (bull) barrel is wider on the left. However, the barrel is still free floating so other than cosmetics, it's good. The only way you can seat a standard M14 mag is to machine the Remington 700 receiver by removing the feed rails from the receiver. This is not something I would want to do if you ever want to go back to the original stock/internal magazine. As mentioned before, there is no real benefit anyway since a stock 20 rnd M14 magazine still has to be kept pinned to 5 rounds. I would wish though that the original 20 round Promag magazine is re-introduced and made available here in Canada. I'm looking into reworking the stock to accept a standard swivel stud to attach a Harris bipod. This will not require any modification to the stock and will be reversible in case I want to return the stock back to the original integrated bipod. Stay tuned...
