Man fights off and kills lynx with bare hands

May not weigh exactly the same but it certainly isn't twice as big either

The perspective of the two pictures is entirely different, IMO. I can't compare them without a lot more information and would likely need additional referencing material. By my observations, Ardent looks quite tall (6'3"+) and the other chap appears to be shorter (5'9" or less). If my observations are correct, by the pictures, I don't see a significant difference between the cats. However, I have very little experience with lynx or bobcats. Definitely learning some new things in this thread... particularly that I don't want to underestimate them as a potential danger.

I'd agree and it is hard to say for sure. One is shot from a low angle, making things look bigger and the other is shot from above making things look smaller. I tried to factor that in when comparing the two but photos can play tricks. I can guarantee, however, that nether is 60 pounds and that both are pretty hefty lynx. I know I'd happily shoot either in a tree!

And of course, Ardent previously posted that the lynx in his picture was 30 lbs.'ish. Prior to the information I received on this thread, I would have guessed it was a lot more. I would have been dead-wrong.

Yup, they do look like they weigh twice what they really are but even the much more common coyote seems to fool a lot of people really badly.

This is the best one that I've taken. What do you think it weighs? ;)

"Pack" over on your tailgate?

Try one more time in English please, I have no idea what you're saying.

Wow!...talk about dissecting all that is being said and/or documented...

OK...Listen carefully...

Sometime, one will shoot a whitetail (ie. legally shot in an open area...perhaps a field), and same can be legally retrieved with a truck. Once gutted and tagged, it is then carefully "lifted" over the tailgate of a pickup truck, then skidded along the box. Once safely inside the box, the tailgate is closed for transport to wherever the hell you want to transport it.

You understand my English now?

I am so sorry that the "pack" thing had to be explained to you...I think "most" may have understood what I meant...hope you may understand now....I guess I will have to be more careful with my choice of words in the future...

"Wow" again...or is this word English?

Regards...

So you're saying you can't get a 200 lb whitetail into the back of your pickup? Time to hit the gym.

I want this guy whitetail hunting!!!

Pack a 200 or so pounds deer over on my tailgate anytime...when was the last time anyone of you have tried that?
My son and I conducted solo efforts in our pick-ups, case in point my son did it this year with his 200 pound (non gutted) buck........at least 200 pounds, and here they are.

Wow, look at the ego's come to surface on this one!!!!
Well this must be the first time a thread was side tracked, heaven forbid. A post did arise regarding a solo effort to placing a deer in a pick-up. I'm not good at judging the weight of a kitty cat however big matures bucks I do, and can throw them in the back of pickup trucks. I guess it separates real men from the boys.:stirthepot2:

 :weird:  I thought this was about a man killing a Lynx with his hands and now some are talking about white tails?
Am I the only one confused here now?
Anyone got hunting stories about chasing the elusive Lynx?
Rob
Must be because your easily confused.

There are ways to get all kinds of animals in the back of a pickup. I've gone as far as removing the tailgate and using it as a "stretcher". At no time did I elude to saying I could 'throw' a 200 lb whitetail into a pickup, I'm way too much of a wimp for that, but you can lift the front and tie it off, then lift from the rear and slide it in.

Anyhow, back to cats. If I shot a cougar like the one in the picture, I think I'd be so excited from adrenaline alone that I'd probably throw it over the truck! :D

You mention a very important key word which motivates a hunter to conduct a certain physical activity, and that is "adrenaline." Another key word is having a "big heart" for the love of hunting and for that animal.

Actually I was not.

I originally replied to this post talking about the nature and weight of lynx from my personal observations.

After that, someone posted a somewhat large cougar being held by an individual...and I simply joked about the fact having him around to help loading a deer in the back of a truck...you my friend twisted it around...but all good.

Sorry this got derailed...certainly was not my intent.
