AIA 7.62x51 Magazine Markings!?

Hi I may be able to source one of these 2nd hand ( Australian Internatinal Arms 7.62x51 mag that fits M1A/M14) Did the originals have AIA markings of any kind?? I want to be sure it's an original!?

If not how can you argue that it's an actual AIA designed 10 rounder as opposed to a standard 10 round M1A/M14 mag of alternate manufacture!?

If your are actually sourcing some AIA mags, they have no markings on them what so ever. They look really close to a 10 round M14 magazine, but there is no square cutout where the magazine clips into the spring guide. The only other difference is that the follower isn't parkerized.

Magazine in the rifle is not marked, my spare had rifle number written on with some marker. Plus they had at least with mine almost white teflon like coating on followers and no square notch

Ok this is the differences

The magazine at the end tappers inwards. There is no hole in the front. There is a notch in the side of the magazine that is bigger then the m14 (round part). The back has a notch cut into the bottom on an angle. Now if you have an AIA rifle M14 magazines do not fit! They get stuck in the front of the magazine well as it is cut out differen'tly then a m14 which is a square box. They work in both but are designed and manufactured for the AIA M10 rifle (lee enfeild)

O and a m14 follower didn't fit into the AIA magazine I tried switching it and it was to thick in the front. I found some aftermarket ones and they were very tight fitting into the rifle that was due to them having better tolerances then the orginal magazine it was .0001 thicker which made it so you had to stick the magazine in straight in from the bottom to get it to fit.
 
Ok, so as to my original query; how do I prove that the magazine was designed for an AIA Bolt Action 7.62x51 if there is no markings on the actual magazine??
The whole purpose of it being legal for use in an M1A/M14 is that it's ok due to a legal loop hole in the rules with bolt action magazine.

Please advise.
 
Being marked isn't a prerequisite to it being legal. If charged you'd have to show, through the features of the mag, why it is what it is. You've been given a pretty good description of the differences between the two.
 
There is no square hole in the front of the AIA mag, the follower is chromed, my M14 mags will not fit in my AIA rifle. If you go to the range, I would think it wise to bring your AIA rifle with you when/if you use them in the M305, etc.

Ok. Thanks for the info guys. So final question; these are 100% for use in an M1A/M305 derivitive due to the legal due to the loop hole right??
 
These are bolt action mags designed specifically for AIA bolt action rifles.
It doesn't matter what you put in them, or what you put it in.
This is how the law reads. No loop hole.
No capacity limits on bolt action, or Rimfire rifles.
 
I don't know where some guys posting in this thread are getting their info but the AIA accepts the 5 round M14 mags just fine - all you have to do is mod the latch plate slightly. They fit perfectly and lock up tight.
