Mosin Nagant M1938 laminated stock

ok thx for the info!

frontier selling m38 laminated for 400 and sfrc sell m44 for 400

dunno if its woth both seem pretty expensive and you said you found one for 275$ will probally wait i think.. there was m38 for 240$ like 2-3 week ago also...

It depends on the condition of the rifle to its value. The few batches that have shown up lately have had rifles of mixed condition, some very nice while others have shown problems from poor storage. The one I picked up was shooter grade with a few rust spots and a bit frosted in the bore. No problem being a great shooter, but hardly a collector item. It was worth the 275 that I paid, but don't think I would pay more in its current condition.

Looks like that's what M44s are going for these days. Think you'd best wait unless these rifles are numbers matching which doesn't seem to be the case. Stocks appear to be genuine M38s though. Wonder if genuine stocks are the reason for the higher prices???

thats what i was wondering for the m38 so high price... stock seem in perfect shape from the picture on frontier website

Just saw an M38 on a sponsors site for $625 and it's a refurb. Wonder what retailers would mark an all matching up to?

I picked up an all matching/ non refurb M38 from Westrifle a while back. Its almost perfect and definitely a museum piece and safe queen. As a collector, was ok with the price, though less than what you listed. As a shooter, the 275 dollar m38 I picked up yesterday was all I wanted, it needs a bit of care, but I like that too.

You cannot compare the two rifles by price. One is a collector, while the other is a shooter.

Was just thinking for that price you'd think it "would" be a collectors piece but it's a refurb. Was just wondering why it's marked up so high. Maybe a typo and it is in fact all matching? All matching and rare example rifles do demand a premium and I would probably pay in that neighborhood if I was guaranteed a mint nonrefurb.

I think there is a lot of hit and miss in the new batches of Mosin carbines. Some retailers are putting collector prices on shooter rifles. They shouldn't be above 300 unless they are in really top shape, which has not been the case with the 38s. We haven't heard much about the latest batch of 44s, so who knows?
