Has anyone heard of MNR releasing Massasauga rattlers by helicopter to help eat wild turkey eggs in the grey county area supposedly one of the boxes was found property owner with the baby snakes still in the release box

Similar rumors happen in the west...but it is cougars being released to control deer numbers....or just being stocked as some part of a nefarious government scheme.

It's pretty funny to hear the elaborate tales some come up with to support the rumor.

There have been rumours of a Cougar release in Norfolk county for years. I highly doubt they would have done it considering the number of dairy farms in Southern Ontario.

I think folks are mistaking Snake drops from choppers for turkey drops out of Choppers. Probably saw the 1978 episode of WKRP in Cincinnati episode where Mr Carlson had turkeys dropped from the News Helicopter at Thanksgiving. Carlson in horror said "As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly!!!" as they hit the pavement. I can see how that could get twisted around to snakes being dropped from the sky. Snakes can't fly either by the way but I guess if they were to wear parachutes they could land safely, however they would likely slip out of their shoulder straps on the way down.

I heard it was from Jet Planes .... they have toilets on those, and they open the bomb bay doors over unpopulated bush areas to empty the tanks ... so you may indeed have seen a brown snake or two, falling from the sky !!

Reminds me of the Simpsons episode with the egg eating lizards.
We've released a breed of snake that exclusively feeds on eggs.
But won't we have a snake problem then?
Well once the lizards are gone, we'll release a rare breed of mountain gorilla that feeds on snakes.
But what about the gorillas?
That's the beauty of the plan. Once winter rolls around, the gorillas will simply freeze to death.
