I just bought a M305 and looking to put a scope on it.

I already own a Remington 700 AAC-SD with big optics for my ''long range'' need, just looking at an affordable scope to put on the M305 to use it from 100-400m accuratly.

What do you guys suggest ?

i put a vortex diamondback 1.75-5-32 sitting on a m14.ca casm rail and I just put on one of the final touches tacpro m14 cheek riser, well needed.

Thats looking pretty good.

Yeah I know it can be done with iron sight but I want more accuracy and i might want to puch it out further

Price range is important. I know for myself I have some saving to do. I would like to run an ARMS 18 mount (which is on order) ARMS 22 rings, and a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x32, or 44. Or maybe Mark 4. It may take a while to get, but I think it is worth it to save a little more and get something better.

As far as affordable, I know the Bushnell 3200 tactical 10x is a good little scope for an M14. They usually run around $200 on the EE. Just don't cheap out on the mount.

Price range is 300$-400$

as for rings and mount, it has a Milett mount on it but will most likely be replaced by a m14.ca mount

Also looking at a bipod and cheek riser

Will a Norc M14 reach out to 400 meters accurately out of the box, or are you going to do a bit of tinkering?

I have a Bushnell Elite Tactical 5-15 x 40 on mine, but I'm thinking about moving that off my Norc M14 and onto my new Savage 10TR. I've got a Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 lying around that I'm thinking about putting on my Norc M14.

My Norc gets messy on cheap ammo (Norc copper washed bimetal stuff) at 200 meters, about minute-of-pie-plate on a good day. I never tried better ammo, but I'm wondering if I'd be wasting my money until I start pouring money into the rifle (or just learn to shoot better).

I figure I could probably use the higher magnifaction on what should be a more accurate rifle (the Savage?)

I'm not looking at crazy match accuracy, my Remington 700 does the trick for that purpose.

I got my buddy's M14 out to 300 with irons and it shot accuratly, with the copper washed ammo on a figure 11. All shots were decently grouped, so I'd say they can be accurate out of the box. Not gonna run match grade ammo or match reloads in there, just commercial 7.62X51

In all honesty, I scoped my M1A Loaded and brought it in the woods. I didn't have half the fun I had shooting iron sighted in the ~200m range. Norcs apparently don't have very good sights, a small investment in NM sight parts could give you way more fun than a huge investment on optics. Give it a chance, you might have a lot more fun than you think :)

I went into a store afterwork today and Looks like a Vortex will be on my M14 as soon as they get it in MilDot.

Until I can look at one closely, taking all the infos/suggestions

I think that the proper way to scope M305 is with the scout scope and leave the breach accessible.
I have Burris 2.75x scout on an Ultimak rail - much more solid than most of the setups I have seen with traditional scopes and the irons are still intact...
Also the balance offhand is good with a shorty...

I am running a Gen II Vortex Razor HD on one of my M14s, but I admit that I enjoy shooting the ones with iron sights and red dots much more than with the scope.

The end result will be something looking/feeling close to a M21 ;)

Got an eye on a M305 with the 18.5 ich barrel which will be kept with iron sights though :p

Also, if you could post pictures of your actual setup to give me ideas, that'll be great
