M305 optics

The end result will be something looking/feeling close to a M21 ;)

Got an eye on a M305 with the 18.5 ich barrel which will be kept with iron sights though :p

Also, if you could post pictures of your actual setup to give me ideas, that'll be great

This is my final results for a rifle also feeling close to an M21.

Bipod suggestions ? All I'm finding is bipods that attaches the the gas tube.

In the above picture, I installed the Sadlak HD Front Rail. Sadlak gives the choice of QD stud or no stud on a picatinny rail, making all bipods mountable. It requires a bit of fitting but was quite easy to install.

The bipod itself is a UTG Tactical OP. I usually hate tacticool and made in China, but the price of this excellent bipod is unbeatable :p So are their rings by the way.

You need smaller scope on the m-14 / NM M1a, on both of mine, i mounted the CASM gen ll a Voodoo check rest pad and on the Socom 18 i mounted a Nikon Target dot 1X4X24 ( cristal clear) and on the NM M1A i mounted a Bushnell 3200 10X40 Tactical Mildot ( compact and very clear scope)and a Voodoo checkrest pad... JP.

Well, I yanked the Bushnell off. This is what it looked like:

Yeah, it was massive, but my eyes are crap and I don't see so good so I wanted to have as much magnification as possible, but I've pulled it of and I'll throw it on the savage when it comes in. I've got the Leupold on there now and despite it being an entry level model with lower magnification, it's still a decent scope with plenty of crisp bright light coming through it.

Will a Norc M14 reach out to 400 meters accurately out of the box, or are you going to do a bit of tinkering?

I did a write up a couple years back on the Falcon Menace 2.5x10 variable power scope. Shot from 100 to 500m with Santa Barbara surplus ammo. M305 is stock with the exception of a non-bedded USGI fibreglass stock, Shimmed gas & Rooster33 SS guide rod.
ARMs 18 mount w\ TPS rings & Falcon Menace scope.
It kept all rounds into the 4 ring -so about 3-4 moa

Figure 12 with around a hundred rounds in it.

The ammo

Smokin' on the 400m line

10 power at 400m

20 rounds at 200m

3-4 MOA. Sorry, sort of new to shooting. 1 moa means 1 inch at 100 yards, so 3-4 moa means about 6-8 inches at about 200 yards right? My norc was hitting a pie-plate (Canada Ammo size target sheet) size grouping at 200 meters, so I thought there might have been something wrong with my rifle. I had the deluded belief that if I simply put a scope on my rifle, I would become an instant sniper overnight, shooting cloverleafs from a kilometer away. Obviously I had a major wake-up call and discovered there was more to it. I'm glad that you posted that, so that I know what to expect out of my rifle out of the box with Norc ammo.

I have not fired any of the recent Norinco 7.62, but have Santa Barbara, Hurtenburger and IVI surplus - for the most part it is all kind of sh!t. If you are looking for better accuracy from the M-305, you'd do well to hand load for it.

Yep, heard that. I might get into it one day, got a 700P and a 10TR on the way and match grade ammo gets really pricey after a while. I guess I'll see how much I end up shooting them.

This is a great thread. I haven't shot my m1a yet, and the guys at the shop suggested irons first so tomorrow I go. But will check back.

Just an update, I got a Bushnell Elite Tactical 10X40 with mildot reticle, got it for real cheap with the tactical rings so... Now all I need is a somewhat decent but not bank breaking bipod. I've got a Harris on my Remington 700. What are your experiences/suggestions for bipods. I have the swing swivel hole empty so it can be used, and I'm not a fan at all of the ''clamp on'' bipods.
