2014 Fur Harvesters Auction Results

It would have to be a real nice pelt to get $100, and he would need hundreds of said real nice pelts with no damage to buy a truck and all his gas.

BS is my opinion...

Do the math. A new cheap truck would set a fella back at least 25K. Even at 100 per pelt he would have shoot 250 coyotes plus to cover his expenses another 25+ or so. That whole story sound like pure coyote crap.

Or his new truck was a $2500 beater off the lot somewhere and he really was paying for it with a couple dozen hides...

But mostly, stories like that have the strong smell of poo about them.

Cheers

There's no way in h*ll an Ontario coyote would be worth a $100. The best coyotes come from the south Sask/south Alberta/ Montana area. They're white, silky and nicely furred. The more east you go the less silky and more darker the coyotes become.

a good number of the coyotes that are shot around here in southern Ontario are not worth skinning . many are mangy and worthless.i have seen a few prime coyotes that would bring maybe 50 dollars on a hot market but the average would be half or less and some would not sell . i have had the privilege of attending the toronto auction and it can be a real eye opener . the fur market has been hot the last few years.Russia and Chinese buyers are present and push the market .

With those sales results it would almost seem they're saving the better quality wild furs for their Helsinki sale in March. I also see no marten, fisher, lynx or bobcat posted. Sometimes the early sales are leftover stuff from the previous year as well.

They big sale runs from February 17-21......This is the best sale in north america! I averaged $100 last year same sale for 90 dogs. I had tons of damaged dogs, all the nice ones without rips and tears went for $140. These are nice prairie coyotes though no bush coyotes! Bush coyotes are alot darker-browner,with guard hair rubbed of lots of times from being in the bush %90 percent of the time!

I sold at nafa last year, 10 coyotes, all easterns and averaged just under 60 dollars, the high being around 90 I believe.

Some of these had been frozen from the previous season too.

But last year was a season of high prices, predictions are that they will be down this year.

The FHA sale was a small one with certain, select goods offered to kind of test the markets. Typically the big sale is the February one.
