RPAL Expires in July. When should i app to renew?

Yesterday. With the crap that goes on I'm planning to do mine six months in advance. Hopefully it won't take that long, but a few guys have had trouble with the slow movers that tend to inhabit government offices.
 
Mine expires in march, rcmp sent my renewal papers in December and I sent mine then. Just make sure you send it registered with signature so you know it got there.

edit: When i called for a STATT, rcmp also suggested I call them if I haven't heard back after 45 days.

They also suggested I send a copy of current gun club membership for RPAL.

I sent mine in 4 months ago. Its been at the BC CFO office for 3 months. My PAL expires in 11 days so I started phoning. They tell me that they need proof of my gun club membership so haven't processed it. Not sure when they intended to tell me that. So if you have an RPAL include a copy of your membership card.

Iv'e spent about 3 hours on the phone over the last two days trying to get this sorted out. What a useless system! If they processed drivers license renaewals like thire thier woulod be a rebellion!

UPDATE:
After 3-4 hours on the phone, fax and email this week I finally got my PAL renewal processed! When talking with one of the ladies in Mirimachi who was helping the bc cfo) she said some PAL applications from BC are taking up to a full year to complete!

Do it now.

Though not a renewal but a first timer, my bro-in-law applied May 2013. Still nothing in hand. His status changed on-line yesterday to approved.

Fwiw, this is in BC.
 
I would do it now if your aware of it. Anything could happen and you might forget about it. Also gives you time if they mess up during your application process with anything.
 
I sent mine when the renewal papers came. It took three phone calls, and there was no issues with my paperwork.

And you have just reminded me that my DH sent his in October, and hasn't got it back. And it lapsed last week. FFS. Got to get him on the phone today.
