RPAL Expires in July. When should i app to renew?

Every time I go to the RCMP web site and try to download their Form 5614 for license renewal, I get the following garbage. Anyone out there able to download the form because I sure as hell cannot.

I was able to open it correctly on Win8 with Internet Explorer 11 but I have had that problem before myself. As I recall, it caused by a browser plugin that is trying to open the PDF inside the browser instead of downloading it and open then opening it in external application like Adobe Reader. If you can shut off that plugin in the browser it should download as normal. You could also try another browser like Chrome? It is a PITA. If you need, shoot me a PM and I will email you the form.

Thanks for the offer but I found a copy on another Canadian web site. I just need to get my photo redone and my wife to sign and I'll get it in the mail, well before it is due.

I was talking to the CFC after reading about the potential for delayed renewal. Even though my RPAL doesn't expire until November they offered to send out the application early as there was no downside re expiry etc. Amazingly, I have already received it! She also advised to expect a rush before hunting season. So, note to others, forewarned is forearmed. I have read lots of complaining about the CFC and provincial CFOs but the service to me in the past and recently has been stellar. I don't doubt the experience of others but I wish I could explain the huge variability.

I mailed mine in in October. Phoned them last week to check on status and it was "held up" due to a missing signature from my spouse, but they had not yet contacted me about it. Had it turned around in two days after my call.

Got it in the mail yesterday. I have to admit they were super responsive to my call, and very willing to assist. Remember that a little "honey" goes a lot further than "vinegar".....be nice.

My pal expires in late May, I just sent in the restricted safety course sheet and forms as well as a copy of range membership and copy of current pal to prove I took the regular safety course. Think all my bases are covered? I do wish I sent it as registered mail, not snail mail...

Holy crap wife was telling me this morning the cheque was cashed already which is only three days from when they signed for the package I sent.
Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
