XCR at SHOT 2014 - Keymod XCR, 9.5" XCR-M

Do you still have to loctite parts to keep them from falling off, or did they finally address this issue? For the asking price I refuse to buy any firearm, even a sporting rifle, that requires I use loctite to keep it from falling apart. If fixed, I'd be willing to take a chance on the XCR-M.

Those look awesome, nice to see that they are doing what the people want for once. I've liked RA from the beginning, they had their troubles like any new platform but they have fixed the issues and continue to impress. That XCR-M looks awesome.

@X Man, yes they have fixed the loctite "problems"..

For the most part torquing to spec, and doing so like a machinist or mechanic would in incremental steps, will solve any problem. In addition to that, loctite on any screw or bolt doesn't hurt. To my knowledge there have been no reports of parts falling off of these rifles in years, they got a bad rep in the early production and such a reputation will never be lost.

Did you hear this from the internet?

Wasn't there issues with the extractor or the bolt hold open breaking? I'm Not sure if I'm remembering correctly, but I seem to recall hearing about part(s) breaking on it. I really wanted to buy one, but just heard too many negative reviews.
If all the issues have been worked out, I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. To spend that much money on a rifle I'd expect at the very least to get an extremely reliable and durable firearm. I know nothing is perfect, but those two things are a must for a rifle of this type IMO.

I was in the same boat before I bought mine.
But the fact is that XCR is non restricted and Wolverine Supplies is the importer....that is all I need to know. I know Wolverine Supplies will stand behind XCR.

I know Wolverine is awesome, but I don't want to deal with warranty or down time. Replacing a part isn't a huge deal, but if all your getting is another part that has the exact same design flaw as the one you just broke, I'll pass. I'm not saying there is a design flaw with the XCR, I'm inquiring more than anything. I'd like to hear that any and all issues have been worked out so I can buy with confidence.

There was a problem with a batch of the bolt hold open catches being over hardened and thus brittle. Any that broke were replaced by RA and Wolverine at no charge.

Interesting. I would hope that the batch was known/narrowed down and now off of the market.

All modern sporting rifles should have a parts kit of known parts to wear and replace.

As much as I want to see .308 pistol mags I also hope the XCR-M will be available with a shorter/lighter upper in a non-restricted configuration. Time will tell on that one...

Looked at a XCR-M the other day. Have kept an eye on them. Liked it a lot. Lots of improvements over their earlier L models. There are only two things keepingvme from getting one. The barrel retention system and the lack of a match grade barrel. The second I suspect is a result of the first issue. If they would get rid of that cheesy one screw system and offer match barrels U would be all over one. I could care less about the keymod hype or thinner barrels.

Looks like I'll have to wait until next shot show to see if they will address the only real flaw. The rest I'm liking in it's latest version.
